Apparently Daniel Craig has been chosen as the new Bond.

A blonde James Bond. This'll go down worse than Dalton.

Oh God... just because he's blonde?!?! C'mon people.

And Dalton is still the star of my fave Bond ever... so I definitely take no stock in that complaint.

Just givin' you shit, ADM.

Cant wait to read what the papers here in the U.K make of it, least a potential large outcry by them has been averted by making him a British Bond and not a Bond from outside Britain or Ireland...

Dalton was my favourite, and I reckon this guy will be good. Plus there's a little thing called hair dye (not that it matters if they don't dye it).

Why? I don't remember reading any prerequisite or text in a book saying that Bond needs to be brunette.

He will probably dye his hair though.

may I remind you Roger Moore had blond hair? I will give this guy a chance. Although I like the fact that the want him to a darker Bond. Bond doesn't need to be dark and gritty and gloomy. In its golden age. The Bond movies were none of those things.

Is it me, or the guy looks more like a Bond VILLAIN than a Bond?

I know what you mean. But I will try to keep an open mind. Just because he looks like a Bond villian, doesn't he'll be a bad bond. There's somthing about him I like. I don't know wheither its his ascent or his mannerisms, I can't put my finger on it. But I've got a feeling he could be a good Bond. Only time will tell. I think this photo gives off good vives:

Does anyone know if there is away I can add a poll to this thread? I wanted poll people on Craig and what kind of bond they think he will be.

I thought Roger Moore's hair was more of an auburn color. I don't see why this Daniel Craig fellow can't just dye his hair black. I mean shit, if they can force all those actresses to dye their hair platinum blonde, why can't they make a sandy haired fellow dye his hair black?
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Personally, I don't think he looks too bad. He looks like a Bond that came out of the '60s (don't ask me to explain it, but he just does). I don't really mind the hair, but I guess it would be nice to see a dark-haired version of him for comparison...

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

If you wanted to make a better analogy pick Lazenby instead of Dalton(though I enjoyed both as Bond).

Actually, he looks like a Bond that came out of the '50s: which is a good thing, considering this is when Casino Royale was written and set.

I have a very bad feeling about this new Bond... Daniel Craig... Casino Royale... I think the Bond franchise will go for the silly campfest in a "Moonraker" kind of way...

And I insist, the guy looks like a Bond villain, not Bond.

didn't you read this quote?

Director Martin Campbell said the 21st Bond film would be "definitely darker, more character, less gadgets".

He also said Q would not be in this movie. I don't think you need to worry about "a silly campfest".

Somehow, I don't think Casino Royale will be anything like Moonraker. I will hold judgement of the new Bond until I see him play the part.

Ah, so I see it'll be more of a Timothy Dalton kind of Bond.

I am looking forward to this Bond Movie. As long as they don't go OT on the grittiness and turn it into some kind of Fight Club/James Bond Hybrid, I'm about ready to break out the martini and celebrate the return of Bond.

They seem to pick the wrong guy every other time. Whether or not the actor or the movies are any good, it's a question of getting somebody that the fans will accept. They're split down the middle on this guy. Everybody loved Connery, Moore and Brosnan from the start. Not the case for Lazenby, Dalton or now Craig.

My bet: Casino Royale will be great. Craig may even capture the spirit of Fleming's Bond as Dalton did. And the numbers will tank because the moviegoing public doesn't give a rat's ass about Fleming's bond. They love superficial fluff like TWINE and Die Another Day, as the box office clearly shows.

If they get a good supporting cast, I think Casino will be great. My expectations are low, so, hopefully, this will result in high enjoyment.

I, for one, am going to give Craig a shot. I hated the superficial fluff of the Brosnan era. Gimme dark. And that's what this film is promising.

1# we don't know they made the wrong choice until we see the movie.

2# I wouldn't say the Brosnan was a successful Bond. I alot of people believe his Bond movies were clunkers.

I tell you, I have feeling that this guy is going to be good. I can't be put my finger on why, I just have a feeling.
