bkev,  I don't have any beef with you either and I do see your point.  Leonardo made the joke and Frink inferred by his "those who say they have a sense of humor" comment that he agreed with the joke and that it was okay.

With Ric, it wasn't a problem (very few even knew), but he was a dual identity ..... others that came after have gotten slapped for it .... what makes Frink deserve special dispensation with regards to keeping a dual identity that has been banned?

Lastly, I'm just awful tired of the nonsense over it.  It's bad enough someone has allowed Ric Olie 2 to inhabit this forum.  If Frink was admin (which I hope never happens), I probably wouldn't give a hoot as they have the right to police their own forum, but he's not.  And now that others know he was given special permission originally after they were slapped for it and he continues to complain about it makes it even more annoying.

I'm not trying to be a jerk.  Maybe my words haven't come out right because I'm finally ticked off about it myself.  This kind of stuff makes this place a bummer to be at sometimes, especially lately.  I've put Frink on ignore finally in the hopes that I can get back to some of my own piece of mind around here.

2) My comment about your sense of humor was directed at your lack of it in other threads.
3) Ric was an open secret, anyone who paid attention in off-topic knew who he was and what the score was.  I did not ask for special treatment, it was given to me by Moth3r and/or Jay
4) Ric wasn't the only one, Biff Tannen (not me, btw) was allowed as well.
5) Ric Olie 2 has nothing to do with me and he's his own guy, I don't see what he has to do with this.
6) If this place has become a bummer lately because of me, you just aren't paying attention.  I'm at almost 30,000 posts, for heaven's sake.
7) Good-bye.  I shan't miss you.

No one thinks Ric Olie 2 is a sock.  He's just a guy who enjoyed TRM and Mr. Olie in particular.

AFAIK, nobody was given special permission for anything, certainly not from me. Joke socks were likely tolerated so long as they were obvious, and didn't stink up serious threads. It takes just one or two people to piss in the pool and ruin it for everyone.

Unofficial permission was given over three years ago.

Had you had an ounce of real sympathy you would have never continued with your inference of me not having any humor about Leonardo's comment.  You would have stopped it cold.

I gave you full opportunity to speak for yourself and you chose to post 2 links to threads where you complained about not getting a response as to why you couldn't have him back.  I pay well enough attention to know I rarely find you funny as in haha funny.  Why your post count is important is beyond me.

Everyone knew about Ric and he was a running joke. I think that if everyone knows who the foot/hand in a sock is and the sock is not being used to cause harm/trouble, it should be allowed. I agree with the idea of Ric being passed from person to person because it would help prevent dozens of sock accounts of that nature since most people would get a turn. There would have to be rules for the handling of Ric though, or people could get him banned again.

In this forum, I don't believe in coincidence.  Ric Olie 2 didn't just materialize out of nowhere from some newbie that just happened to choose that name blindly when joining.  That name was chosen for a reason, but by whom, I do not know.

It is my guess that these socks probably weren't meant to exist outside the "off topic" forum.  That is why some of us that don't normally have a reason to peruse this section had no real idea who they were ..... making it easier for them to slink around the main forum mostly undetected.  With some of their alter-egos being regulars in the main forum it was only a matter of time before things got out of hand.

 Somehow I missed the last dozen twenty comments before I posted (hence the post being disjointed from the rest of the conversation) so I didn't realize my legitimacy was being questioned here. How dare you! ;)

Frink is right about me. I enjoyed TRM which is what brought me to this site and for lack of a better name, I chose the star of the show: Ric Olie. The name Ric Olie was already taken (unbeknownst to me, by a sock), so I used RicOlie_2 (I think I used an underscore and didn't use a space intentionally, as I didn't want to end up being confused with the other Ric). I've been around since July (I think, maybe it was June). So I that's why I chose the name. I fooled around a bit recently, hinting that I could be a sock intentionally, just to have fun, but I tried not to be convincing enough that I would make people angry at me or end up banned.
