I love this movie and was wondering if any one had the Pioneer #PILF-1822 Japanese LaserDisc, NTSC, CLV, 104 minutes, that could do a capture of it?
It is about an 7min longer then the dvd version. Would be great one to preserve!

This might just be ignorance on my part. I’m not to up on PAL to NTSC conversion.

Can’t you take the PAL DVD and just make it region free with DVD Shrink?

I could be way off on this. This way may have tons of logistical problems that I’m unaware of.

hey segaflip over at ****** they have it in NTSC format here is the specs:
An innocent young man is forced is forced to care for his domineering mother after she’s bitten by the cursed Sumatran rat monkey. When the infectious bite turns her into a crazed zombie, she soon infects enough people to make it very difficult for her son to cover up all that is going terribly wrong. Filled with state-of-the-art gore effects that feature dismemberments, mutilations, and household appliance mayhem. See this movie the way Peter Jackson intended. This is the complete uncut and widescreen version from New Zealand. The cut U.S. version was released as Dead-Alive. Uncut. Letterboxed.
hope this helps, hell i wouldnt mind getting this myself

I'm going to bet this isn't a Region 1 disc.

I could be wrong.

I'll have a look around my area and see if I can track it down.

Actually the PAL disc is 100 minutes as this is the PAL equivalent running time for an NTSC disc at 104 minutes. I also know this as I have the uncut Universal UK R2 release with a stated running time of 100 minutes.

No 88keyz is right. PAL 100 = NTSC 104. It's goofy like that.

Is the UK DVD full widescreen and uncut?

When I was looking for this DVD a few years back the only full, widescreen version was the Spanish edition on Manga Films.

Hey, I was able to purchase the Japanese LaserDisc off of eBay and now getting it transfered to DVD for my own personal collection. At this point I have no interest in releasing this to the general public.

So what does the laserdisc offer that the DVDs don't? I have the full uncut version of Braindead on DVD.

Well it offers the full uncut version in NTSC to my knowledge there is no offical dvd that is the full length, unless you buy a PAL version.

Well had to scrap the Japanese LaserDisc transfer for now, disc got broke in shipping! But...Now I have got ahold of the Hong Kong LD with is only 103min but still 6min longer then the NTSC DVD, also it is widescreen, japanese is fullscreen. More to come later...working on a friday the 13th disc, with old tv specials on it.

That sucks. I had an ANH Faces LD break in shipping as well.

"PAL 100 = NTSC 104. It's goofy like that."

What's goofy? It's perfect math. PAL is 4% faster. If you look at 100 minutes as 100%, then the 104 min/percent increase makes perfect sense.
