I hate to be realistic but just sending the food doesn't actually solve the problem. The country and its people need to get responsible and limit their population within their production capabilities. I mean "send us food and we will multiply" attitude is bound to hit the brutal reality of nature.

A big part of the problem is that many of these countries have food production capabilities that far exceed our expectations. Corruption and war prevent more-fair distributions of food.

Also, I don't think Capitalism is a good economic system for a country with a mostly-starving population.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

couldn't disagree with you more.   3 people died and many more have lost limbs.    Since the we haven't yet arrested the person or people responsible, this could happen again.   I'd say that merits attention.

Oh yes of course... since media attention and you discussing it on forums will actually help arresting the person responsible...

I do. that why I help out with my churches' food bank.

You might want to check some stats about world-wide hunger relief before you make those claims.

Thanks for being "realistic."

The massive hunger in Haiti is caused by crippling foreign debt, the long term effects of colonization and fascist governments, massive deforestation and soil erosion, and an infrastructure and agriculture hobbled by the policies of US farm subsidies.

The terrible famine in East Africa is caused by a horrible drought, and a nation lacking the infrastructure and stability to deal with it because of two decades of Civil War. Most regions have become one-food-source areas, and without interconnectivity to supplement them, interruption to that one food source is catastrophic.

Gee, I sure wish all these irresponsible starving people would just stop it.

And you saying, "we need to talk about more important things, like hunger in the world, and irresponsible Africans" accomplishes alot outside of making you feel smug?

Yes, we need to talk about irresponsibility. Who is supporting the African dictators who don't care for those things. We, the developed countries do. So we can exploit their natural resources. Who sells arms to Africa? We do.

If the media was after stuff that actually merits the attention the most then your multi-trillion debt would be the main news everyday. But who wants to hear about that, right? I mean no one would want to hear about their irresponsibility.

The way you just randomly jump topics is amusing.

Let's face it, guys. The media helps terrorists win.

Look at how fearful the USA has become post-9/11. With the Patriot Act, TSA bullshit, ..., the list goes on and on. I have no doubt that all of the attention by the media played a significant part in easing the rise of the 2002-present USA Security Theater.

If the goal of terrorism is to transform the target into a terrorized fearful society, then Al-Qaeda won back in 2001.

This is an interesting view. Can't say I entirely agree but this warrants more discussion.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, I intentionally worded it in an inflammatory way, but I'm not going to go back and JEDIT it now.

Less inflammatory: I believe that terrorism directed at a nation forces it to respond in a way that limits the freedom of its citizens for the sake of "national security" and mass media plays a significant role in the fear-mongering that's required to get people to "give up a little liberty to gain a little security", which -- in effect -- drives further terrorism.

Where?

All he said was it's putting a finger in a dyke that's more dyke than hole.

I dare say we would all applaud your efforts but it's stopping some local people going hungry not stopping a global population from starving.

Oh but you aren't here now and I'm on ignore.

Yeah, but look at a young man like Andrew Martin, who plainly only received the opportunities he got because of a physique that clearly was abusing steroid, and for the WWE to put him into a physically punishing and relentless work schedule, isn't it ingenuous of them to say Martin's death as a result of drug abuse and pain killer addiction was solely a result of his own character flaws?

^?!?!?!?! HALF THE POPULATION IS BEING SYSTEMATICALLY CONVINCED TO HAAATTTTEEE WHITE CHRISTIAN MALES IN A VICIOUS AND DISCRIMATORY WAY!!!   It's empowering the TOTALITARIAN left to destroy EVERYTHING that has made this nation great and good and decent!!! It is enabling our foreign enemies to acquire WPM to give to terrorists to destroy American cities!! You think that crap isn't ripping apart the families of white Christians and making their lives impossible?!?!?

"A vicious and discriminatory way"? "Totalitarian left?"

Wow. You are more of a nutter than FF (no offense FF, I love you man). I don't think you have even the slightest clue what discrimination is, or what it is like to be discriminated against in any kind of a significant way. Totalitarian? Now I know you have no clue what that word means. Ridiculous, man. Come on.

It is people like you who totally destroy the credit of the right, regardless of creed or color. There are a lot of things about conservatism I used to be really fond of, but over the past few years I have found myself feeling the need to dissociate with the likes of people like you, who seem to continually seep out of the woodwork.

A few years ago I never thought I would say it, but conservatism holds far more wrong than right for me. You throw out even the most wholesome loaf of bread when you find it festering with maggots, and so it is becoming for the entire right wing movement.

Listen to yourself, man! Every word you said in the above post is dripping with absolute crazy! You don't need the so called, "totalitarian left" twisting things to make you sound like a lunatic, you provide everything anyone needs for convincing all on your own. The sad thing is, you don't even know how crazy you sound right now, and the credibility you lose for your ridiculous hyperbolic ramblings you'll blame on the left wing media.

Tell me, if you care to, a few examples of white Christian families being "torn apart" and their lives made "impossible"?

I haven't mentioned anything about "conspiracies" here. I have only recounted some indisputably true FACTS.                                                                                                                                                                                                            I will take a time-out from truth-telling to leave you with this:   The March 17 episode of FAMILY GUY featured Peter stupidly joining Islamic radicals, killing many people in the Boston Marathon, and detonating bombs around a New England city with his cell phone. ;/ :| ;\

^I was actually refering to the original ep. I'd say it's only marginally less bizarre than the fool hoax vid.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            They still won't tell us whether the suspects were white or middle-eastern. The longer they can draw this out while the coincidental poison mail thing that coincidentally is easily traced to a white male is going, the more they can set the idea that it's those "Evil White TEA Party Christian Conservative Republicans" into the heads of the sheeple. The suspects know their own ethnicity, why can't the rest of us?

Oh brother.  I wanted to contribute to the discussion, but by the time I got back to this thread, I have no interest in trying to be rational with how it's turned out.  I'm happy for it to get back to the original topic.

Yeah, back on topic.   They say Obama met with a Saudi official. Word is he might send the arab student back to the kingdom. I wonder if that is a threat to the arabs of interogation Saudi style. Heaven forfend that we should get them wet for a couple minutes. In the meantime there is an explosion near WACO and a southern state white guy whose letters had a "preliminary" test indication of poison. Major acts associated with the stereotype by sheer co-inky-dink going off at a perfect time for setting the emotional response of the responsible and well informed public.

Now, I know some of you think I am a wing nut and conspiracy crazy.

Well let me show you what a wingnut does.  Take a look at this video by the goofball Alex Jones!  This guy is way off his rocker. He is just stirring up trouble with this.  I want you to look how he is misinforming people. He is making an ass out of himself!

Look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTDJdOca_BQ

Now, the photo at 0:45 is NOT a detonator ALEX, it's a fricken Geiger Counter!

I own a slight variation of that very model.

It's a "Radiation Alert INSPECTORXTREME Microprocessor-Based Ionizing Radiation Detector with Protective Boot by Radiation Alert"

Like I said, I own one. A lot of people do. With North Korea making trouble, this guy most likely was checking if the explosion was a dirty nuke device. I am only talking about the photo at 00:45  If this guy is government security forces, and the government did do the bombing, then he would have known there would be no need to use a Geiger Counter.

What Alex Jones is doing is truly disturbing!
