[EDIT] Nevermind. No point feeding trolls.

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.

Back on topic, anyone know of a good site to download the latest XVID codec? I thought Fairuse would have installed it on my computer, but apparently not.

I would have to agree with RebelScum and Rowman and that I too appreciate any effort put into restoring the OT. This is only my second post ever (signed up only a few days ago) but I have been a long time lurker. I, for one, usually skip the usernames of posters who are here just here to be negative and really have nothing to contribute.

I wanted to encourage MeBeJedi, Zion, and all the others that are doing transfers to keep up the great work. Most of us want the version that our generation has grown up loving (and yes, it does not include cartoon colors). Having worked at a movie theatre where my general manager owned the trilogy on film, the work that the people are doing here is a lot closer to what I use to watch with my popcorn and Diet Coke than those SE DVDs ever will be. BTW, I recently talk to Rob (the GM) and he says that ANH has not held up well over the 15 years (the last time I watched them) and his print is turning pink (he even stored it in the correct coniditions). However, ESB and ROTJ are still in great shape.

Much like MagnoliaFan has his version of the Star Wars universe (which I can't wait to watch all 6 to see how he tweaks it into his own story) and GL has his version of the Star Wars universe (which he has changed to make it almost cartoonish, among many other things, which is fine but I don't like it) and then there are the people that are here working on the LD transfers trying to preserve "our generations" star wars universe which, for me, really only includes the OT. Prequels, what prequels?? Certain users seem to miss this point (read the post about MagnoliaFan Edits to see what I mean) and assume that they know exactly how the star wars universe should be and if it doesn't match their perceptions (and they usually use GL perception) than it is wrong.

Anyways, I wanted to encourage all of you that are doing transfers, to keep at it and keep us posted. And lets take MeBeJedi advice and "Don't feed the trolls!!"

Cheez-its and coke, or you don't get to watch me version!

BTW, thanks. (for both cases )

Last I checked xvid.org didn't offer binary downloads. Koepi does (he's known for his compiles of xvid).

the upload of the Star Wars "LOOK" SE DVDs have been postponed due to my ADSL company and their stupid new changing plan fee(not going to pay $100 just to change plan.) maybe Rik can upload them,

Just a quick note, I won't be starting my own thread for my DVD's. My updates will be posted in this thread. More in-depth information on my progress will be updated frequently on my web site.

Thanks again to everyone who has shown interest in my project and supported me this past month - you know who you are. Because of you I've become a lot more motivated to get these finished and released to the masses.

My Projects:
[Holiday Special Hybrid DVD v2]
[X0 Project]
[Backstroke of the West DVD]
[ROTS Theatrical DVD]

^ Keep up the good work, Zion

I like your website m8 - and the screencaps really show what we are going to be in for.

Would it be worthwhile creating a new thread with a bit of very basic info and then a link to your website? - it does get difficult for us regulars to keep up with the latest news in a 96 page thread full of differing and often confusing versions - let alone any new posters - some many not even be aware you are doing a set...

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

zion,

I second the motion to start your own thread - the stills you're posting look the best I've seen !

And, although you've said you don't plan to release the discs as a torrent, would you have a problem with someone else uploading them ?

I thought of something interesting. Does anyone know of any program that will let you do a split-screen comparison of video files. That would be really neat if you could have this in a supplemental section of a DVD. What I'm getting at would be something that would allow you to play two videoclips of the same footage side by side with each taking half of the screen. One could be how the footage looked when you first started and the second could be how it looked after you figured out your filters for noise reduction, color correction, etc. I thought that was one really neat thing I saw on something like Entertainment Tonight back in 1996-97 when they were talking about the Star Wars Special Editions. They didn't show any SE changes. They just showed something like Vader walking down the hall of the Corellian Corvette. They showed what the film footage looked like originally and how it looked after it was restored and I believe they did a side by side, but I'm not entirely sure.

Anyone else think this would be neat if it could be done?

This is extremely easy to do in Vegas. I do it all the time when I am comparing different transfers/captures.

^ Probably so m8 - though it is getting rather large now, and even more difficult to keep track of the differing versions.

Only a shame the other versions don't have their own info threads too, like Zion, MeBeJedi and ISOMIX have...

The other versions aren't changing so it wouldn't be necessary for them to have their own threads.

Well, I did not see a TR47 feedback thread so I will post it here.

I received the TR47 7 DVDR set and it is Awesome, lots of extras, the movies look and sound GREAT. Just what I wanted (as backups for my Laserdiscs). With these other guys (Zion, MeBeJedi & ISOMIX) versions looking to be even better I cant wait to check them out. I am very pleased with the TR47 discs. Thanks to everyone for your hard work in preserving these awesome movies.
