Here’s a blu-ray version of the faces art that I created for the despecialized edition. It may not be perfect, my skills are lacking. I should also note that they are technically a remake of sorts of the faces DVD art that was in the DVD Cover forums a few years ago. Hope you enjoy my first post to ot.com!

Jedi DespecializedEmpire DespecializedStar Wars Despecialized

New to making covers, and grew up with the faces VHS tapes. Wanted to use these for my Project 4k set I am putting together (went a more classic route with the Despecialized versions). Very minor change but wanted to put these out into the world in case anyone had any tips or also liked them.

I just realized that up close the “4kxx” looks cool, but is barely visible from a distance. I will try and make a version without the “hollow” font and see if it looks better.

EDIT
Filled the “4Kxx” font as an alt for anyone interested.

I do prefer these because it matches the logos above

I’m trying to get my hands on blu-rays of the 1997 trilogy in HD. Can anyone assist in my search?

Do any of you have links to where I can find ChainsawAsh’s Star Wars covers? I was going to PM CA, but his account seems to be banned here. I think using Criterion cases for the DVD releases is a great idea.

I have these on Blu-ray, but I sized these for thick DVD cases because that way it (mostly) fits perfectly in the box from the VHS box set.

Now if I can just figure out where to get a copy of the 1997 HD versions of Empire and Jedi, I’ll be all set. But I have no idea where/how to get full-length fan edits. I’ve read the tutorials on this page, but I’m just inept.

This is just the Case Covers, Disc Labels, and Fan Art section of the site.

If you are looking for Star Wars preservation projects… it is worth looking in the An Index Of Projects & Help Thread for Star Wars Preservations… thread - in the Star Wars Preservation section of the site for such projects mate 👍

In anticipation of the official ROTJ DeEd 3.1 4K release, I created some UHD artwork.

UHD (4K) Blu-ray: https://drive.google.com/file/d/130M9JMoRdT6oYjM3Dvm22sNgpkifrJuK/view?usp=drive_link
HD (1080p) Blu-ray: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1glb8XnVxqJstm_FOE11EsGmeCgS6HBQ4/view?usp=sharing
DVD: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rcddg4WCtAqhiOhyaLPqw_1UCww4d050/view?usp=sharing

The only difference between 4K and 1080p cover art is the logos (Blu-ray vs Ultra HD Blu-ray). The DVD cover art is very similar, but some changes were necessary due to the different case proportions.

They’re designed to be in the style of the 1990 VHS releases (Star Wars, Empire, and Jedi), but there are a few places where I modernized things a bit. These owe a lot to the work of ChainsawAsh and EyeShotFirst. There’s nothing preservation-specific about these covers, so they’d work just as well for Despecialized, 4Kxx, D+xx, or anything else you like.

There are also “alternate artwork” versions, which more faithfully reproduce the artwork on the home video releases:

Disc art is also included, in a matching style (including distinct designs for the 1981 version of Star Wars and the 70mm version of Empire; bottom row is alternate artwork):

Do the Prequel Trilogy Blu-ray covers mean the Despecialized Edition of them?

Been working on this off and on for a few weeks, and I think it’s ready to share finally!

Here’s a complete set of simple Blu-Ray cases that should fit any version of the films. Minimalist backs - no features listings, taglines, or synopses. Running times for the OT are based on Despecialized (and the logo blocks include Harmy’s logo, so they’re obviously meant for Despecialized, but nothing else specifically states as such).

These are heavily inspired by phildesfr’s awesome covers, and even use some assets he graciously provided in his MEGA links, including his textless variation of the theatrical TFA poster and some of his logos. I did heavily customize his AOTC logo, and the ESB logo I used is literally the one on the poster itself since it ended up landing in the right spot.

As for other stuff, the TFA logo I used is based on Owain Wilson’s, the TLJ logo I used is lifted from one of Jim Titus’ designs, and the alternate TFA poster is by Grzegorz “Gabz” Domaradzki.

So here they are - I may have to edit this later because I’m just uploading the full-size versions to imgur and they might clutter things up (and imgur might fuck with some resizing, I dunno), and I’ve gotta get off to work right now. In case that happens, here’s album links:

“Theatrical logo” spines
“Saga logo” spines

Covers themselves, “theatrical logos” first:

The “saga logo” ones are the same except for the spines, so I’m going to just leave the album link up for that, but here’s the alternate version of ANH with the “saga” logo and ANH on the front logo:

Hope you like them, and if I’m stepping on anyone’s toes with these (especially phildesfr, since they’re basically modified versions of his covers), please let me know and I’ll take them down.

I really like the simplicity of these. Only thing I would change is adding a scroll or description of the movie on the back besides that. These are Great!

Do you potentially have a version of Empire and Jedi with larger text in the credits section? Some of the smaller writing it completely unreadable once it get’s printed out

Can you post those disc labels as separate image files?
