Here is my finished njvc ten-disc set. I used JMoomer’s Criterion-style covers (with an additional fourth cover I made for my Trilogy Documentaries bonus disc). The box was custom made. The flyer has information about all ten discs.

Wow. That is incredible.
You could make a living just selling the packaging.

The force is strong with this one. What software do you use? This has become a hobby and I’m leaning so much while browsing the threads.

I use GIMP. I’ve been using it since its release back in 1996. It’s like Photoshop but it’s free. https://www.gimp.org
I can provide you some .xcf source files and you can play around with them. Everything is just in different layers. The tough part is just making sure you get your print sizes right!

Damn, that is beautiful! Nice work. I’d love the gimp source files.

Nice job Stealthboy!

excellent! yeas, i would definitely appreciate that. As is, your covers are exactly what I am looking for, but i would ultimately like to learn how to do my own and contribute to the community.

I’d love those source files as well if possible! I recently downloaded GIMP and am looking for some trouble to get into…

Fantastic job, Stealthboy. I’d love those xcf’s too if you don’t mind.
I’m putting together a mega.nz link with all my sources. Hopefully I can share that in a day or two. My day job keeps getting in the way! 😃
Coming Soon. I have only the front of The Original Trilogy and The Force Awakens. These are my personalized covers. Once I finish all seven covers, I will take requests for adjustments and changes. Will update in the future…

Interesting… what do the backs look like?
Still working on them, trying to get the fronts done first because I have a very great idea of what I want from them. The backs always give me trouble in the arrangement and trying to look uber professional department. In shorter terms, we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it…

Honestly, that’s the reason I don’t make covers. I am never happy with the back layout.
Good news, finished the front covers, now to work on the back. (I’m planning to do variations on the covers with black & gold and black & silver editions)

They look great! 😃
Can’t wait until you have finish them! 😄
This is my “WORK IN PROGRESS” for my custom set for the Despecialized Editions. This is just the “Insert” for Star Wars (1977). I’m giving my set a bronze/sepia color scheme.
YUB NUB!

That is a really interesting take, I like it. If I may put my two cents in, I think if you went with the font and colors like the film for “A long time ago…” and the crawl, they would really pop on that background.
Here’s an update (Please note that they are still a work-in-progress!):
…I may have to create a black background for the back. I’m also creating an inner slipcase, and an outer slipcase.

Just a few observations that stood out to me: The font on the back isn’t quite right yet, especially in the credits area. I’ve seen many folks try to put the opening crawl on paper like this and it just looks weird not receding at an angle… perhaps if you did full justification left and right to stretch it as it appears on film it may help. Also, I would made the logos at the bottom of the back all white instead of black.

Like I said in the comment, it’s still a Work-In-Progress. I am fully aware that the logos have to be white, and that most of the things you see are not yet centered correctly. All I did last night was stopped, saved, and created jpegs for temporary reasons only. I’m working on GIMP (which not as reliant as Photoshop), and I have many layers to deal with. I am NOT finished yet. Believe me, I know what I’m doing.
If I wanted to change the angle of the crawl in GIMP, I would have to use the “Perspective” Tool, which can be difficult to use, considering the angle has to be symmetrical, and making them look exactly like the crawls in the movies would be extremely challenging. Besides, straightening out the paragraphs cause large gaps between the words. And I want to make it so that anyone looking at the back can read the text without a problem. If it’s at an angle, like the movies, the text at the top would be hard to read.

I use GIMP, too. Very capable tool! Keep up the good work. I only meant to share some observations, no need to defend yourself! Our covers are always works in progress 😃.

Sorry for defending myself. It’s just that I have been working on these for weeks now, constantly moving back and forth, not knowing which design to use. No if someone has a vector, or pngs of the three original crawls, with no background (neither white, nor black), I would love to use them. Or perhaps some text information about each film.
YUB NUB!
Just my additional two cents: I LOVE the cover. I love the spine. I really enjoy the sepia tones of the whole thing. I love the choice of background images on the back. The only thing that stands out to me is the crawl font and the credits font. So, instead of trying to go yellow to match the film, why not just go radically different? I felt the white text of your first example was better to my eye. But find a nice font like Gill Sans (my personal favorite these days). Also, the credits could look like the poster credits with the right font choice. For example, this: http://i.imgur.com/nCbh3Sg.jpg
At some point it’s all just personal taste! It’s art, after all 😃.
