Smithers is looking for actual measured dimensions of those Criterion cases. Criterion doesn't make them though, someone else does. So, via quick google search I offered up my findings in my last post

If someone wants to help scruffy out, that's fine. Please do not charge him above material costs to make the box. I provided the artwork in the spirit of sharing and will be reluctant to do so in the future if someone tries to take advantage of it financially.

Here we go with my first post. So I decided I wanted to make some new bluray sized covers for my discs and wanted to make them feel like the VHSA tapes I had as a kid. So I made these:
Then once I had my template all set up I decided, what the hell, let's make everyone look better.
Does anyone have any good single cover for displaying the whole trilogy in one bluray case?

So I printed out ronwlim's Star Wars inserts for the criterion cases, and while the inside art fits the case, the outside printout was too small to fit the case properly. Any help in fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm. Did you check the print dialogue box to make sure it printing at 100%? I just made a set for Harmy and everything printed fine... lemme check the files tonight.
EDIT: When I checked the pdf, there's a box that's checked that says "FIT". Uncheck that and select "Actual size". See if that fixes your issue.

I went into acrobat and changed the setting to "actual size," and while that did make it a little bigger it's still not the same size as the inner artwork, which seems to fit the criterion case better.
Again, I just made a set ad it printed fine. I did use a heavier stock, which can definitely account for fit. I did this because the cover is double sided and I didn't want the inkjet ink to buckle the paper.

As per ronwlim's request, I've posted my cases I had made up yesterday. They look gorgeous on my shelf, though for the moment both Empire and Jedi are empty.
Here's one I did for the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. This is a supplemental cover to my previous "White set".
As you can well imagine, artwork for this programme is limited. What I found was either too low quality or just too drab. Other cover designers have used images of the matte paintings or just a still from the show, but I needed something to sit well with the painted artwork I used on the other covers in the set.
The only available "official" artwork for the Holiday Special is the print ad used at the time of the original airings. Unfortunately it is in black & white and only available as a murky print (see below). I ended up recreating it from scratch in colour with approximate stills I could find. I know someone else already attempted this, but I found the quality and workmanship lacking for my purposes. If I wasn't tied to keeping the artwork consistent with the other covers in the set I would have gone a different route, but I felt I needed to adhere to the original print ad as closely as possible.
To approximate the look of painted artwork I had to manipulate the images quite a bit. First, I boosted the colours significantly and smoothed out gradients and details, then I applied a Dry Brush filter to all the elements. At varying settings this gives them a somewhat simplified, painterly look, and somewhat averages out the different quality of the source images but it's still a far way off from being seamless. In hindsight I wish I researched appropriate Photoshop filters to recreate a more painterly look. All tips appreciated.
I pimped the final composite by applying a Radial Zoom blur to varying degrees across the image, and added a nebulous star cloud to the background which adds a bit of life to the otherwise stale composition.
It's not often I create artwork from scratch like this, but in this case there was just no way around it.

I wanted to attempt something similar myself, as my first contribution to the forums, but you beat me to it. Guess I'll have to think of something else.
Does anybody knows if the official ad for the holiday special ever appeared in magazines such as Rolling Stone? Because in that case, maybe a higher quality version of this ad could be found in a compilation like this:

I'm working on a box for my despecialized editions now. Unfortunately, I'm not great at box engineering. Here's my ill-fitting rough test version with my final blurays.
The box has a bit of work to go but the bluray sleeves are pretty much done. I designed them for Criterion size cases to maximize the artwork.
Some details:
- I used the copy and (bad) kerning from each film's opening crawl- used the old school Fox logo
- recreated ALL the credits using the proper fonts.
- For each logo, i recreated each as a high-res vector version for easier scaling.
- Matched each film's release poster as closely as possible
- For the Empire cover, had to recreate the original one sheet WITHOUT Lando, Boba Fett or Cloud City
- For each case's pictures, I used images that spoke to them being the theatrical versions.
At any rate, enjoy. I may upload it once I figure out how to make the box fit the cases better.

After seeing this thread all I can do is wish I owned a printer and Blu-ray burner.
I looked over all of the submissions here and compiled my favorite covers, disc arts and insert image.
All I can do now is beg. Beg another fan to burn me Harmy's ANH 2.5, ESB 2.0 & ROTJ 1.0 onto Blu-rays and print the disc stickers and other art....or just the art in the link below. I may be able to find someone w/ a burner.
I apologize if this isn't the right place for this. As much as I'd love to pay someone for this, I have to honor the spirit of this website and only offer compensation for materials used.
I already have all of Harmy's current MKV files on my HTPC and backed up, but to have them on a shelf with amazing art and in physical form would be amazing. They'd look killer next to my 90's hologram VHS slipcase boxset. :D
Anyway, again I apologize if I should not make this request here. Even if I never get a set, thanks to everyone who took the time to make and share all of this art. It's really awesome.
