Nice. I hope to have some BD covers soon for the eventual releases (WIP pieces, obviously).
Where does one get silver or gold paper? Does it work only with certain types of printers?
I put together these covers for my STAR WARS TRILOGY PARTLY DESPECIALIZED EDITION AVCHDs:

I intent to print them on silver paper, so all the white parts will be silver, that should look awesome, I already tried that with my GODFATHER trilogy covers, only with golden paper, and it was brilliant.
I hope that people will add their covers for the various HD releases (like Wookiegroomers or Adywan's) here. I'd quite like it if some of you guys skilled at this kind of thing made some other covers for my PDE trilogy as well.

I bought it in a normal paper shop. You need to you buy the printable kind and it should work with any kind of printer, but you will obviosly get the best (comercially available) results with a high-end laser printer.
Finished the new version of the covers:
So...I've started playing around with a custom cover set for the eventual release. Not necessarily because it will suck (though if it's anything like that godawful DVD release artwork...) but because it's fun to do.
I've decided to use Whalen's fantastic art for the front, and then find a matching tone for the back out of McQuarrie's paintings.
Thanks to Darth Solo for the high res art for the back.
Not sure what else to do for the text on the back; not sure what else is needed. The spines will all match, but I haven't figured out what I'm going to do with them just yet.
Comments welcome.
It rocks. What a pity if all the blue-ray cases are to be blue though (notably this blue).
Well done Imrahil, thats a very welcome and refreshing new take on a custom. I really love it.
You can get clear blu ray cases aswell.
As for the text on the back, you reach the same hurdle as i always get to. But i think in this case you could even get away with any sort of synopsis for the back.
Spines, i love to place an image across a set to make a spanning spine set as it stands out on a shelf (but thats my thing).
Looking forward to see the completed cover(s).
Spanning spines are hard to do on Blu cases because they're more curved than standard DVD cases.
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

The program I use to get that view has an option to use any color case, but alas there are no black cases anywhere online that I can find for purchase. Clear might be the answer. Alternatively, when all of your blu rays are lined up together, the cases themselves tend to "disappear."
Thanks for the comments though. I'm working on these still--anyone know where I can find a high resolution version of Whalen's ROTJ poster?
All right. Here's the more-or-less final version, I think, of ANH:
I played around a bit with the composition on the front, and there's a bit of room on the back for important "Special Features."
Here's the ESB WIP:
Now I need to find either a high-res version of Whalen's Jedi poster, or try to recreate it myself (time-consuming!).
Did you grab my PM Imrahil?
I did now, you magnificent bastard! :) THanks much.
Err, your welcome, i guess.
That'll do me.....
Sorry, I just meant it to be a fun way of saying thanks. Not implying you're Rommel necessarily or anything. :)
The "strength" of the covers you're using are the characters. That's a strong point for your Mc Quarrie backcover of SW 77. So for Empire, well done for the colors, but the somehow pristine painting of Mc quarries doesn't worth a penny next to the sandmen you used before. But well, maybe it's the only option, I don't remember all the paintings. The space slug one would have been great (same dynamic - direction), but would ask to altere the colours...
PS: the edges are great.
ABC--I tend to agree, but I also think that the bold color is another "character." I chose the Tusken Raider because the orange of the cover reminded me of the orange in that print.
So I hate to sacrifice that for a blander color palette. There are a lot of nice "blue" ESB paintings to choose from though, so I'll look around more.
Okay! I think I'm done with the set, though I'm not sure which ROTJ I like better.
Here we go:
ROTJ V. 1
AND V.2:
and the set:
IMO Luke on the speeder looks better for ROTJ. :)
Original Trilogy in Replica Technicolor Project
Star Wars PAL LaserDisc Project
These are great, definitely better than the photoshop pictures from the official releases and inovative compared to the usual classic posters. I also like Luke better for ROTJ.
Great work. Im impressed what you did with them.
Not to sound impatiant, but any links to the finals?
Oh yeah, thanks to Darth Solo for his help in finding the McQuarrie pics. :)
Re: links to the finals...since we don't know specs or special features yet (the ones I put in are just "wishlists") I'm going to hold off on that until we get some kind of announcement.
Great choice with the ESB backcover ! My heart feels warmer when I see it ! ;)
Here are some disc labels I made up:

I don't know how to host and post pics of these on here. If someone else wants to, go ahead.
The idea is for the discs to have a blue rim around them, to help them stand out from regular DVDs.
Here is the Photoshop template I've made that I use to make DVD and AVCHD labels:
http://rapidshare.com/files/418892400/250dpi_Print_Disc_Master.zip
It helps you design around different disc hub options like; small, large, and LightScribe. It also helps you plan around a text area that that it available on HP direct to disc printers like I have.
BTW I like all the covers I've see on here so far.
Imrahi, I'd go with the speederbike back. Dynamically it's hard to decide.
As a group you have either:
Large face, facing left (ANH)
Far away faces, facing away (TESB)
Midway face, facing right (ROTJ speederbike)
The other option would be:
A villain (ANH)
Two main heroes (TESB)
Supporting characters (ROTJ C3P0)
Drew Struzan used the "Heroes", "Villains", and "Supporting Characters" theme on the Special Edition one-sheets. Nice!
Both back covers add to the green/forest theme of the front, so they're both excellent choices for ROTJ. These are honestly the best artistically crafted covers I've ever seen for Star Wars; Blu-ray or DVD.
