(That being said, I recall reading that Sony is aware of the problems with this mindset, and the new American president plans on doing something about it.)
Don't forget MicroMV, Sony's attempt at an even smaller digital camcorder format.

Doubtful. Nintendo has long maintained the idea that they make gaming systems, not multimedia systems. They'll probably go with another proprietary format, just as they did with the GameCube.

Drat, i am a big fan of the Nintendo and i wish that they could keep up with the times. I just don't want the new nintendo console ending up like the Sega Dreamcast.

THE NINTENDO REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE ADAPTING THE "NEW" DISC FORMATS NOR WILL THE X-BOX 360*. MY MAC MINI IS ALREADY HD-DVD READY, BUT FUTURE APPLE COMPUTERS WILL BE SET UP WITH BLU-RAY ALSO.

IT CAN BE DONE, BUT IT'S NOT SOMETHING THAT'S PRACTICED ON A REGULAR BASIS. IT'S MOSTLY USED BY LOCAL T.V. NEWS.

HYBRID DVD/HD-DVDs WILL HIT THE MARKET PLACE VERY SOON. YOU WILL HAVE STANDARD DVD ON ONE SIDE OF THE DISC WITH HD-DVD ON THE OTHER. THE MUSIC INDUSTRY HAS DONE A SIMILAR THING WHERE THEY HAVE TAKEN A DISC AND PUT STANDARD MUSIC C.D. ON ONE SIDE WITH A DVD ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DISC. ONE EXAMPLE OF THAT IS THE LATEST NINE INCH NAILS C.D. THE DVD ASSOCIATION IS HOPING THAT THIS WILL HELP PEOPLE CONVERT TO HD-DVD.

This is because MicroMV, like MiniDV and C-VHS, was intended only as a recording format, and is not used for distribution.
