Hang on am I missing something, is the final version available?

I don't believe so... I think Zombie is just busy with life and things but probably still working on it gradually.

Now that you guys bring this up, I'm hoping to have this finally up by the end of next week! The encode is done, I'm just working on the menus and authoring right now. I'm thinking about adding trivia tracks to identify where the new footage comes from and differences from the theatrical versions so I still need to figure out that.

niiiiiiiice! Looking forward to it! Will we have to PM for links when it's up?

Hooray! That sounds great. I'd love to see it. I do enjoy the rough cut as an alternative experience. Out of curiosity, did you fix that flash frame I mentioned a few posts ago?

Looking forward to this

So, I'm posting this little clip. The one consistent complaint people had was that they didn't like my approach to the Zhora scene, where the deleted scene cut-to-black jumps right into the fight. I'm still using a bit of a jump, but I do think the scenes plays out much more naturally, and actually develops as a scene. I cut out the effeminate sounding character Deckard plays, because that's not in the deleted scene, instead he just charms his way in there using his regular ol' wits and Zhora gets the better of him, very similar to the film minus the altered voice Deckard uses. I did a bit of sound editing and picture cutting to remove a few lines of dialogue in here. Hopefully this version doesn't seem abrupt and incoherant to people the way my first approach did.

Watched it. That definitely works. Out of curiosity, what program should I have to make the DVD when you're done? I haven't looked into that side of things at all.

I'm going to posting them as .vob DVD folders, so you won't have to do file conversion or anything, it will be just like burning a new DVD from ripped DVD files. That's how I did the beta, and that's how I prefer things when I download edits, it just seems easier for everyone.

In case of DVDs, I find it's best to use ISO or some such, since it's even easier to burn and people who just want to play it from their computer can simply mount it and it will play as a full DVD.

Yeah, I'm a super noob around here and have never successfully ripped a DVD or burned a new one from ripped files. The only reason I'm here is my love for all things Blade Runner. (; Will I be able to burn it the way I would burn a regular data dvd? I expect not.

I found another thread with a post saying Imgburn is good, but that doesn't mention .vob files of course.

After a little bit of non-laziness and looking around the internet, it seems Windows Media Center will do it. Yes?

Yes, you can load the folder in Windows Media Player or any video player that can play DVDs. I'll include a link to whatever appropriate program is needed for the non-standard burning proceedure ultimate used (as Harmy noted, a CD image could also be a useful way to post it, but these can't be burned exactly like normal CD-rs either).

Awesome. I personally look forward to seeing it on my 60-something inch tv assuming I can get it on DVD.

Looks good. Its hard to comment as it feels different, which ultimately is why I've been looking forward to your edit, to see the film differently.

Closer to being done than I thought. If only I could solve this damn interlacing problem. Womble's de-interlacer basically doesn't work, and 50% of the video here is interlaced. Any suggestions? I would hate to have every new shot full of interlacing artifacts, would kind of kill the thrill.

Menus are built. See http://imageshack.us/f/841/vlcsnap2012080421h29m20.jpg/ (image not inserting correctly).

And I have a working design for a cover.

Any thoughts?

EDIT

Well, I'm going to re-export the DVD one more time in case the interlacing filter wasn't applied for some reason (there literally is NO de-interlacing). Otherwise, I guess I will have to export this as an AVI, use Virtualdub to build a new de-interlaced file, and then import the AVI into a DVD authoring program. But it will result in a nice AVI for those that want that option.

I'd use a deeper red for the text... Maybe even see if you could give it the slightly 3d look of the text on the final cut box if you have a font that fancy... But I'm now realizing finding a BR font with the 3d-ness is unlikely. A deeper, less bright red, using the actual BR font for the main title, with the fonts a bit larger. I really like the image though, and the whiteness of it. It is very much a way that BR hasn't looked before. (; And it looks good.

I wish I could help with the technical issues... /:

I like your cover. Feels very "Blade Runner" to me, sort of understated as the movie always was.

When you first ripped your added scenes did you deinterlace them before importing them into womble? Say in virtuadub? I always do before I import into vegas.

Hey Zombie, I know your a busy man but I dont think I'm the only one looking forward to this.

Any news on your edit?

^This. I know you're still around, Zombie. Have you not had any luck with the deinterlacing? I know I can deal with just running it through a filter in VLC if that's what's holding the release back. I still have the workprint, and I've only really skimmed it because I thought the real thing was coming soon.

I'm here! So, some major stuff got in the way. I feel like I have to say this every month, for one reason or another. This one was technical difficulties plus Demonoid going RIP, plus a few personal things. But by the end of next week, this whole thing should be live, for better or worse, hopefully for the better. I'm probably going to just cheap out and release it with interlaced segments and put a disclaimer to use a de-interlacing filter. It just seems like the fastest way to get this out, all things considering.

Should have just had a go at this myself! I'm just too lazy:-{
