My burner takes both -R and +R blanks.
And it can set the booktype bit on +Rs so my standalone player thinks they're silvers.

Let's give it up for bleeding-edge technology !

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

It's time for you to teach me what that means. I know I have a +R and -R DL burner. I've always let nero set the layer break on the fly. How does this differ, and what are the advantages I'll gain? Any instructions? I always like learning new functionality.
I am fluent in over six million forms of procrastination.

this actually has to be supported by the burner itself and just because you can burn +r's doesnt mean you can set the book type.

here are instructions for how to do it in nero http://www.k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php#Nero-Booktyping-Bitsetting if you cant get those options its most likely your burner doesnt support bit setting.

as far as what it does, it basically makes the burnt disc more compatible with standalone players
