ADM- I'd be happy to hook you up with the edit when its done (and I'm as satisfied as the film will allow ). As I'm sure is the case with many a fan edit I just find myself cringing at some of the decisions made in post. Its a shame that so much hard work went into effects et al but the script and direction was just so god-awful.

I blame it all on my bud BatmanMD- he pestered me into trying it and I got addicted to the challenge.

Now, if you can improve Uma's overacting, my hat's totally off. Her entire delivery was worse than the "Hockey Team from Hell" or "The Coolah" or even the fact that not ONE but TWO future Governors share screen time in that film.

When all is done I do hope to get it shared on MySpleen one way or another. Who'da thunk people actually wanted to see this?!?!

ADM, I've trimmed as much overacting and/or mugging as plot allowed. Some characters are totally useless and others- like Uma- are more plot involved so there was less 'cuttable'. Basically if it was useless I tried to get rid of it. In fact, among other things, the entire 'Alfred has got AIDS.. I mean McGregors Syndrome' subplot is gone... WAY gone!

See, now Alfred was the one thing I found redeemable about the movie. Except for that final line.

The real challenge would be to have Batgirl be Barbara Gordon and not Alfred's niece. If you can pull that one off you'll be the love-object of disgruntled fanboys worldwide.

Don't get me wrong, Michael Gough is a classy actor and he's the only one who did bring any semblence of dignity to the film. I guess that's why I couldn't stand him randomly being terminally ill. Batman IS the master detective for god's sake- he wouldn't have waited until the last second to even notice Alfred was ready to kick the bat-bucket!

I too would love to make Barbara actually be the correct character but perhaps that change will come in B & R edit 1.2.

Hello. Yes, I prodded GreenCapt into editing B&R. I always thought it was "possible". Not everything in the movie sucked. Yes, it was a day-glow bat flick, but alot of people put alot of art/costume/special effect, etc. work into it that wasn't bad. The flaws were a bad director, horrendous script, and too many damn characters. We sat down one night watching the flick and took notes, about two or three pages- single spaced/hand written, of things we would change. I've got to give credit to him. He's tackled this project with more gusto than I expected. Especially since he hated B&R soooo much. I remember when I saw him come out of the movie theater when he first saw it. He basically looked like some one punched him in the nuts and lobotomized him. I was much more blinded and forgiving at the time since it's safe to say I'm probably a bigger Bat-fan than him, and Mr.Freeze has always been one of my favorite villians, etc. I still think Ahnuld could have been a descent Freeze if he had a director who gave a shit. Anyway, I can't wait to see the edit. This was a true challenge. Star Wars edits methinks pales in comparison to trying to actually improve B&R. Bravo, GreenCapt.

I saw Batman Begins last night so I can Finally comment. Bale was a great Bruce, and I liked watching the birth of the batsuit and the batcave, etc. But there was something I didn't like. Not sure what, but I think I prefer the 1989 Burton version. Two things I can definitely say I didn't liekd about 'Begins' was the editing - there were lots of shots and scenes that felt like they should have gone on for a few frames (or even a few seconds) more. and I also didn't like the close up fighting. While it did add to the feeling that the criminals didn't know what the hell was hitting them as Bats got to work on them, I like to be able to see the fight moves.
All in all, I enjoyed it, it was by no means terrible, but I was a little dissapointed. However, thje 3 guys I went with all loved it, so maybe it's just me (I studied film at art college, a degree in animation at uni, and worked for a a London special effects company when I graduated, so I guess I am unable to just watch a film like an average moviegoer anymore....DAMN!).

War does not make one great.

"Batman Begins-Bruce Wayne is played by Christian Bale, and Batman is played by Henry Rollins."

They finally announced the street date for this one. 10/18, same as the Burton/Schumaker boxed set. Three editions of this one are planning to street: Widescreen single disc, Fullscreen single disc, and a Widescreen "Deluxe Edition" 2-disc set. The 2-disc set is only a buck or so more than the single disc set, begging the question "why bother with just the film."

Amazon's got it up for pre-order now.

I guess *some* casual viewer *somewhere* might just want the one-disc. This never makes much sense to me though because of the cost the studios pay creating these discs. Silly silly silly.

Sadly too I prefer the art on the single disc edition, though both are pretty cool and honestly all I'll see is the spine on the shelf.

All of my DVD cases get packed into a cardboard storage box. I keep my discs in those 200-disc folios. Takes up less space in the "liveable" part of my home.

Just so long as you NEVER, EVER get that notion to my wife! She must never suspect that I don't need as much space as I take up!

Whenever Christian Bale put on the Batman mask, he made me think of Val Kilmer, and I'm not sure why. Must be the square jawline.

I like 1989 Batman well enough, but I think Tim Burton's a little over-rated.

Sikkbones, that picture is totally awsome.

I like the 89 batman too, but ive not yet seen Begins.

ADigitalMan: I like storing my dvds on a shelf. Im proud of my collection and like the response a wall full of dvds gets My current shelf is actually overflowing (as ive stated in another thread) and im either gonna buy a nice big one or build an elaborate one (i have some pretty crazy ideas for one) when i get my own place. I also keep all my dvds on the shelf in the order that I got them, its getting harder now, but i used to know the entire order by heart, and could tell when/what i was missing (when someone borrowed one) just buy looking at the shelf.

Ill probably hold off on this dvd for the box set you know they will release after the whole trilogy (they are planning 3 right?) is done. I like box sets

Gotta love it. Amazon has both the single disc and the double disc sets available for exactly the same price. What I want to know is WHO is buying the single disc edition from Amazon?

Why they heck is WB releasing multiple editions? Deluxe Edition in WS or FS is sufficient.
