Ric, if you don't like this film, you may be in an extreme minority, but you're entitled to like and dislike absolutely anything you want. Never to be one to throw stones in my house of glass, I hated "Training Day" and I love "Hudson Hawk." So my opinions on any film are to be taken with the appropriate measure of salt.

Wow. Thread killer, huh? Wasn't intended to be one.

I saw the official movie guide today at Borders. Way cool, though if I'd read it before I saw the movie, I'd be pissed. I do love the character twist at Bruce's party. I was really concerned about why Ra's Al Ghul was cast the way he was. I like how it all turned out. That's all I'll say for risk of spoiling it for anybody who hasn't seen it yet.

And if you haven't, instead of watching ROTS for the 72nd time, take a trip to Gotham next time you're at the multiplex. This movie renewed my faith that not all filmmakers are soulless bloodsuckers. Nolan clearly has respect for the craft of filmmaking and it shows in every frame.

Sad fact: about 90% of the quotable quotes on the IMDB listing for Hudson Hawk were entered by yours truly. About a decade ago I stayed up all night with HH in the VCR, a remote in one hand, and my laptop on my lap, getting each of those great lines down word-for-word and submitted. Probably half of the trivia came from me too.

Hudson Hawk, IMHO, was so far over the heads of critics that it moved faster than their brains (or pens) could work. They hated it because they just didn't get it. They showed up for Die Hard and got Moonlighting-meets-Airplane. I've seen that film probably a hundred times and I catch something new every time. And now, with the popularity of the Da Vinci Code, it seems more relevant than ever. They could re-release next summer and use a marketing strategy like Manhunter used after the success of Silence of the Lambs.

I can see the trailer now. Don Fontaine's bosso profundo announcing:

"Before Robert Langdon cracked the Da Vinci Code, Eddie Hawkins went in search of a cup of coffee. If you thought you'd learned all the secrets of Leonardo Da Vinci, you ain't seen nothin' yet."

Various clips of hijinks follow.

"And now, for it's fifteenth anniversary, see the movie that nobody saw the first time around. Catch the Excitement! Catch the Adventure! Catch the Hawk! Bruce Willis is .... Hudson Hawk."

Close with the quote of Richard E. Grant saying:

"If Leonardo Da Vinci were alive today, he'd be eating microwave sushi naked in the back of a Cadillac with the both of us!"

Oh ADM! You slay me! That is friggin' great!

Have you submitted that idea to the studio? With the BO the way it is, they'd do anything for more money. Maybe not a theatrical rerelease, but a video rerelease using the same methods.

And, thank you for entering all those quotes. I love them.

My brother and I are addicted to that movie and we always get sneered at by people when we say we want to watch it. People just don't get that movie. But we don't care. It's our thing. Nobody else needs to know.

You gotta, man. Do it real soon. Or just drop by my place some time and we'll pop it in the DVD player. My brother and I decided to have a viewing party this Saturday.

Honestly I've never seen it either, and I'm a Bruce Willis fan! ALL I remember about the film when it came out was the controversy about how, after seeing the dailies, balding Bruce Willis supposedly insisted that his receding hairline get digitally painted over to look not so bald.

Actually this is the first real controversy/situation I can remember regarding CGI and/or digital painting being used to 'doctor' a film- with the exception of colorization and the whole Ted Turner fiasco.

Batman Begins turns into Hudson Hawk. This, ladies and gentleman, is how our OFF TOPIC session is.

All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. Yipiie-kay-yay is from "Die Hard". They did the joke about Bruce Willis being Mr freeze.

Speaking of Ah-Nold, I finally reluctantly started what my friend (posting here as BatmanMD) has been trying to get me to do- attempt a 'fan'-edit of 'Batman & Robin'! Ouch!! I was playing around with it last night and I think when (and if) I get done it'll probably have a running time of about 12 minutes. LOL. I almost can't stand having to watch it just to cut it to pieces....

If.... and only if... I has any small level of success with it I'll let you all know. I think I'll have to go see 'Batman Begins' again just to remind me that there is still hope in the Batman universe!

12 minutes? Like the "Freddy got Fingered" PG cut, which is about 2 or 3 minutes long?

Can you imagine what Cillian Murphy would have been like as Batman?
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

Hmmmmm..... Murphy as Bats. That would have been... different!

On an odder note, I'm about 85% finished with my 'fan' edit of 'Batman & Robin'. Its actually been a lot of fun, either because of the vasts improvements being made OR because I love chucking huge sequences into the garbage bin! The running time will actually end up being just at about 1 hour when all is said and done which should be by this weekend.

Greencapt, I GOTTA see this when you're done with it. For all the editing I do, attacking B&R never even occurred to me. You're a much bolder man than I.

Now, Guy Pearce, a Nolan alum was apparently on the shortlist for Batman. While I can't see him in that role, I can totally see him as The Joker. I haven't heard his name being bandied about, but he has the build, and freakier still, the teeth to play The Joker. Anybody agree with me on that one?

This nonsense about Justin Timberlake as Two-Face just needs to stop, though. No way can he be under serious consideration. I can't figure if the rumor was started by some silly Timberlake fan, some idiot Hollywood suit, or some rival studio trying to start bad buzz on the film before it even gets greenlighted.
