Hey...I figured this was the right place to post this. I made a new banner for the site...if anyone cares to see/use it. It is a bit larger(40 bytes) than the others that you have in your Links page, but it is along the same idea. I can post it online, so I'll describe it, and if it sounds good, I'll send it to whoever's in charge here....I think it's Jay -- please correct me if I'm wrong. The banner starts out with greedo & han face to face in a sort of wide screen w/ a redish border and the caption "originaltrilogy.com" at the bottom. This switches to han firing his blaster from under the table in the same widescreen format, w/ the web address & a caption near han saying "Han shoots first." This switches to an all red background w/ the words "See the movies the way they were meant to be seen." Then the caption appears below it, "Sign the petition and join the campaign to preserve the ultimate film on DVD!" Then it starts all over. Tell me what you think, and if you like it, I'll send a copy to someone who can put it on the site.

Might need to PM him so he'll get the message. He told us once that he doesn't always read every thread because of time constraints. Actually, e-mail might be even better. Try jay@originaltrilogy.com.

Any word yet? Would be cool for Jay to start posting banners and buttons custom made by members of the Forum.

I'll be adding a fan banner section at some point where people can post their own banners for download. I might make it automated so people can upload them on their own. We'll see.

I have a huge, huge list of things I want to accomplish for the site; it's been building since the launch in March. But finding the time to do it now that I'm engaged and trying to find a job in another state is difficult. I'll fit it in somewhere though.

Ya, congrats The idea for the fan banner section is cool I suppose, but I wouldn't make it automated ==> too much work, and little turn out Only RRS & I have made custom banners (as far as I know, please fill me in as to who made the other ones in use.) With so few contributers, it would not be worth your while - in my opinion, whatever that is worth to you guys, especially Jay

I'd also worry that you might get some punk who shows up as a one-time deal and creates some garbage banner that makes the site look bad. With how few there might wind up being, it might be best just to post them individually, Jay. That way, you'd at least have control over which are up and which aren't. Not that you wouldn't be able to delete bad ones since you are the webmaster. But, it's better to not have to worry about the potential for bad or inappropriate banners ("HAN SHOT FIRST, C*$%KNOCKER") going up at all. Wouldn't you think?

Scary, eh? And a picture's worth a thousand words, so even after it was pulled, it would likely not be forgotten for a long time in discussion.

All good points. It wouldn't be unmoderated though. I'd likely set it up so that whenever someone uploads a banner, it's stored but not displayed. I'd be sent an e-mail automatically to let me know there was a banner that needed review, and I could take a quick look and approve/junk it. Basically, a medium amount of coding now to save me from annoying updates in the future.

I'm the type who puts little things off until I forget about them. If I get an automatic e-mail and all it takes is two clicks to check an image and approve it, I'll do it right away. If I have to spend 10 minutes making edits to a static page, I'll blow it off until later (and never do it).

Ah, the life of a web developer. Mirrors my sentiments exactly. Put it off until the last possible moment. Then forget about it if at all possible.
