The OOT is not going to "overshadow" anything.. It is simply going to be part of the boxsets.

Still not believing a word of it Raul....and it's nice to see some other posters here seeing through your crap.

I just get picked on cuz I'm so venomous....which is all right. Somebody's gotta do it....

I've already said all I need to say in previous posts. Remastering the OOT now makes no sense when you look at all of Lucas' action up to now. If anything, he's being consistent in his dislike for the OOTs and his love for the SEs. Whatever.

We got the OOT and we're just going to have to be happy with that.

George will do his 3D movies and his big box set next year (with no OOT) and then he's probably going to back off and move on to other things, but still keep his nose in SW. The series will come out....maybe a spinoff. The cartoon will come out....maybe a spinoff and soon we'll be oversaturated with SW and everyone will get tired of it and no one will care anymore. SW will disappear for a while, then make some kind of comeback. What becomes of that is anyone's guess.....

Lucas might sell his companies and then retire on a big mountain of money and then leave it to his kids when he croaks who will spend it like it was free (it is, after all) and that'll be all she wrote. They'll probably license it out to whoever thinks they can make a profit on it and it'll be one of those annoying brand names out there.

That's the future of Star Wars......pretty bleak and pathetic, huh? And my money won't be financing ONE FUCKING BIT of it.

Raul: Until you provide evidence that your statements are true, few people are going to believe you. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof; you haven't provided the proof, and you lack the public credentials to make such claims without proof. If you cannot publicly reveal the identity of your source, I suggest a compromise.

There are a number of people who do have the credentials to make such claims without providing explicit proof. I suggest you contact one of them and establish a dialogue between your source and this trusted figure. Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits seems to have some lines into Lucasfilm; were he to confirm your statements, they would quickly become internet gospel. There are posters on this forum who could confirm or deny your story while maintaining the confidentiality of your source. A simple thumb up or thumb down from any of these figures would go a long way towards ending this confusion.

And how do I know Star Wars will end up like this......

It's simple....we already have an example....it's called STAR TREK.

Sometimes it's best to finish the sentence with a period and never come back to it again. Milking something dry has never produced good results for whatever's been milked.

Man, I like the sound of a "female restoration artist".

I used to just call them hookers.

Lucas can't live forever.

Yes, but that though has always struck me as so morbid. I mean, I'd like to get the DVDs I want, but why would it have to imvolve the death of a human being?

Everybody is AWARE of the fact that for Lucas it's all a marketing game. I believe we will have anamamorphic releases of the OOT with the 30th Anniversary. Just relax people. This "substandard product" as some of you refer to it is financing the restoration of your anamorphic remastered vision of perfection!

I wish.

good grief, that PT lover Go-mer-whatever from TFN posts here too?

He's perfectly entitled to love the PT.

When the anamorphic digital remasters of the OOT come out people are going to find something else to complain about. It doesn't matter we will find out next year. As a first time DVD release for the OOT this isn't bad. Next year will be the big one.

Assuming that they do come out. I keep hearing that "Fans will always find something new to complain about," and I tire of it. Lucasfilm know exactly what fans want. They just keep feeding it to us bit by bit. If a DVD release of the OOT came out that was restored and remastered, had the original audio tracks, and did not have the video altered in any way, then what would we have tom complain about. If the release only contains the 93 mix, then fans have a right to complain. LFL know how to do propr DVD release. They just won't.

I honestly though this September 12th release would be enough to keep everyone from complaining.

But I was wrong about that too.

Someone somewhere would complain about Beru's voice being different than that "magical opening night" they remembered.

Bet on it.

My source is female. I don't know what gender the restorationist is. Cable-X1 and to everyone else following his negative flow RELAX... I have not said anything impossible. Remember that! All I told you is that the OOT is going to be released with next years boxsets. It will be remastered and anamorphic. Digital Bits will have the information when the press release comes out at the begining of the year. I don't know why so many of you are finding this so hard to believe. LFL has contradicted themselves many times in the past. I am not like "supershadow" confirming sequels and all kinds of other shit. I simply have some limited information on next years boxsets. Believe whatever you want.

Actually, I'm gonna complain till I'm blue in the face till I get a beautifully restored, 1977 original theatrical version of Star Wars ... which I don't believe the current DVD is.

But, hmmm, let's tap into the local expertise here and find out. I'm gonna start a thread about it, cause I wanna know once and for all.

Even if I gave you my sources name that won't help you. I have given you all the information I have. The prototypes for the 2004 DVD boxes are being considered for the 30th Anniversary. The SE are going to get their FINAL definitive changes and the OOT is being restored and will be anamorphic as part of the sets. Beyond that I can provide a few more tiny specifics. I don't really have anything else right now that would satisfy you for proof. I have said before that I will give you more info as it comes to me. If you don't want me to post anything else about the DVDs I won't. I guess being excited as a Star Wars fan and wanting to share with originaltrilogy.com isn't enough.

Let me try putting it another way. Lucas is a businessman. 2004 SE boxset/with bonus disc 2005 SE boxset/NO bonus disc. 2006 Limited Edition SE/with OOT bonus discs WHAT IN THE HELL is going to get people to rebuy the same discs for the fourth fucking time with no real incentive except more changes to the already craptacular editions. Couple that with the fact that by releasing the OOT this year non-anamorphic and pissing off a large percentage of the fanbase that wanted the OOT. Releasing the OOT remastered and anamorphic ensures Lucas will maximize profit. This way he satisfys both camps and Star Wars finishes off on DVD with a big bang! Brilliant stategy and completely expected.

Lucasfilm could try including both versions of Beru's voice. That might help. In any case, anamorphic transfers are not asking a lot. If these discs had been good anamorphic transfers, then there would have, of course, still been legitimate complaints, such as the multiple audio tracks, but it would have at least met industry standards. That's right, Star Wars fans will always have criticisms. But you know what? Lucas decided to create the SEs and the PT. That's fine. But these are the consequence of attempting to bury the originals. He's brought this on himself.
