A few seconds of violence, I believe.

And the provocative change of Roy's line "I want more life, f***er" to "I want more life, Father!"

It's ALWAYS been "father." Strangelove is wrong.

It's always been "f*cker". "Father" is only heard in the workprint and censored TV versions. Interestingly, on the current Director's Cut, he says "fucker" but the subtitles say "father". I personally prefer "father".

I believe the R2 subtitles say "fucker", I last saw the DVD last week but I might be wrong.

I was referring for the R1 subtitles. I just looked at it to make sure I wasn't making things up.

I just checked my Criterion version, and it says "Fucker"

"Prefer" father? you're crazy! That's Roy's (or mankind's, rather) moment of complete anger and frustration with his God. His four years represent the time that never seems enough to any of us! He has killed his way to the answer of his existence, and is thoroughly pissed off that his God saw fit to make him mortal. It is mankind's everlasting anger with his creator.

"All those moments will be lost like tears in the rain"--that's life--that's God--that's why Blade Runner kicks so much ass.

You're right. Oddly, I've read more about the film than I've actually seen it, and as such, I've read more about that line than I've actually heard it. In reviewing the scene last night after I had posted -- I realized that "fucker" was more appropriate given Batty's anger. I always thought of the line as someone meeting his maker -- his father. In that sense, it seemed better, but contextually, "fucker" does works better.

Okay, work on the OFF-WORLD set will get underway in the next week or so as I've wrapped up my Harry Potter Projects

It's great coming here and discussing films with people who care as much as I do

Is Blade Runner a new movie? When does it come out?

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

Next year, MBJ Didn't see this flipping through this post, but kinda on topic...Just saw over at DarkHorizons that they've FINALLY worked out the copyright mess that BR has been in for so damn long, and Scott is cutting a brand new version. Which will be released thatrically next year, along with the oft-promised three-disc set containing ALL of the previous cuts, plus this new one. Hopefully they've not been shortsighted enough to only prepare an MPEG2 version, but have also got something for HD as well.

Yeah, the news broke here two weeks ago and we can allay your fears about HD versions; both HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc versions are in the works.

[edit]This is the first time I've seen a mention of the number of discs though (other than this year's two-disc set).[/edit]

[edit2]Dark Horizons doesn't mention a disc number, do you have a link to your other info source?[/edit2]

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!

"The restored "Director's Cut" will debut on homevid in September, and remain on sale for four months only, after which time it will be placed on moratorium. "Blade Runner: Final Cut" will arrive in 2007 for a limited 25th anniversary theatrical run, followed by a special edition DVD with the three previous versions offered as alternate viewing: Besides the original theatrical version and director's cut, the expanded international theatrical cut will be included. The set will also contain additional bonus materials."

None of us here like Lucas or Lucasfilm.
I have death wishes on Lucas and Macullum.
we could all probably get 10s of thousands of dollars!

I was pretty sure I saw something about the number of discs when I started poking around after seeing the DH article. I may have simply misread one of the various reports, combining it with memories of what Scott said the LAST time he talked about a DVD release (at that time, before temporarily lapsing into chaos again, he said they were about to release a three disc box set with a new cut of the film). Anyways, it's ALL good news, except of course that it means I'm probably going to have to start saving my pennies NOW for this thing

Edit-- BOTH Blu-Ray and HD-DVD? That's a little weird, isn't it? I would have thought that by that time one format would have demonstrated a clear lead on the other.

By when? The end of the year? At the moment, HD DVD is clearly in the lead with the sub-par Samsung player and discs that have come out.

WB hasn't announced ANY discs for BD as of yet. I'm all over the HD DVD version when it comes out.

Well, I just started to sort all the BR stuff that I have so the set is now underway... The 1080i to DVD is done I just need to add an isolated score (or something like that) to it and I will be doing the Criterion transfer with an ALTERNATE score also, I think I now have all the known soundtarcks (retail to bootlegs) and a ton of extras to be added to the set. I did have to drop a few things from the project but I should have a better idea of how the sets going to turn out over the the next week or so.

ANYWAY....

THANKS so much to all those that have contributed!!!!

This project is now a go!

Hey there- how's this set coming along? I'm still very eager to check this out, it sounds fantastic. I could even trade you Legendary Pink Dots live recordings for it if you'd like (have a few Denver shows even). Thanks again for doing this!

It's underway and I expect it to be done in October or MUCH sooner, The 1080i to DVD's isolated track is 60% done now I have EVERYTHING on my HD now so I need to figure out how to complile it all...

BUT I'm working on building two cars at this time and they have a higher priority (one for my brother and a GT5 racer for myself ) so I will be working on the BR set a few times a week until complete

You're still going to be releasing the DC even though it will be officially available next month? That doesn't look very good IMHO.

So is it done yet?

Also this may be able to continue as a supplement to the upcoming 2007 boxset.

It'll be ready when the 07' DVD's are out as it will compliment the proper box set - and YES I'm still doing the ISOLATED score and Alternate score but I will most likely use the 07' DVD as the video source instead of the HD TS files (I have that already done and it is SUPER STUNNING!!!!! - Thanks Moth3r!!!!) but I'll need to compare them first

This might be of no use to anybody, but there is a cool remix of some of the Blade Runner theme music at Dreamtimemix. It might make for an interesting backdrop for DVD menus or disc credits or something. Anyway, I thought it was cool, so check it out.

I have to say...I rented the new version of BR and it didn't hold a candle to my DL version. I was happily surprised.

Oh...and I'm still planning on doing my own 2 disc extras set.
