I dont speak for everyone, but i am sure some of us would like a little more info,
Blade Runner Criterion Disc- did you capture this, and if so is it anamorphic widescreen, filtered non filtered?
Blade Runner The Director's Cut (2 Discs)-is this from the hi-def file out there now,or is it a dvd rip from the official release, and why is it 2 discs?
and how big is this myspleen file going to be?
thanks for your time

I think the game would be better collected onto the 1 DVD, I've seen it like that for sale on ebay, it would just enable this set to take up far less space on the shelf.

The DVD-Rom sounds like everything that was on mine.

This guy probably just ripped everything that was on it.

I'm not. I got most of mine from someone ELSE. The Gongo I ripped from my own CD.

... can still be obtained at retail, legally.

I made my comment with the intent of suggesting ways Raul2106 could condense this collection, however, I thought this was just a personal collection that you were mentioning. I didn't read the bit about uploading to myspleen. Uploading legally purchaseable material -> bad.

The PC Game is out of print. I did my own anamorphic widescreen transfer of the Criterion. The DVD-Rom disc contains a lot of stuff that was already released but I added some great stuff too. I suppose I could shrink the PC Game down to one dvd... The Directors cut is the one that was released recently though yes. it is two discs! Man you guys are tough.

If you want your own version of the Criterion laserdisc out there, I'd say go ahead. The rest was on my collection including everything you mentioned (besides the video game). But I'd appreciate it if you didn't re-release mine since I haven't even done that yet.

Your two disc of the director's cut is missing a lot of special features.. would you like me to give you the extras I have so you can just add them to yours.. My Criterion is cool and the video game is out of print so I was thinking of just doing a two disc criterion with the video game as a bonus.

So what? It's still illegal to distribute, and it doesn't fall within the scope of activities that we support on this site.

There have been a lot of people asking for a non-dual layer version of your director's cut so if I released my set the two disc you did would be non-dual layer and would cut the file size down considerably.

No one wanted a non-dual layer version. That completely defeats the purpose of my release. There is already a non-dual layer version out there with lesser quality and this has been discussed considerably. Please do not release it.

I also already have the criterion laserdisc. There were no video extras on that release. There were only drawings and other notes. What you have listed as "extras" is everything that was on my release.

Dude...you can do what you want but the only thing that you, personally, are contributing here is your own version (if that's true) of the Criterion. You're new here and it's bad form to just go around re-releasing other people's stuff...especially without their permission. Hell, I got shit for doing it on MY release.

It's interesting to note what you are saying... you can actually still legally purchase The Star Wars Difinitive Edition laser discs too, but that doesn't stop people from uploading their own DVD's for preservation. The point I am making is what is wrong with trying to preserve the kick ass Blade Runner PC Game? I thought this site is devoted to preserving. I realize the argument you will make is that The Difinitive Edition laser discs were never available on DVD... but then again they were never intended too. If I could just walk into a Best Buy and purchase Blade Runner PC than I could understand your point. but I do not consider used copies and stuff sold on ebay & amazon to be strong enough argument against my preservation. Since I legally purchased Blade Runner PC back in 1997... i think i made my point.. but no problem I won't release it.

digitalfreaknyc thanks.. I am new to all this and don't want to piss anyone off. I am going to contribute my Criterion.. sorry for being an ass.

Guys, what's with this mine and yours shit?

Digitalfreak, I know it must feel really bad for you to get "scooped" on a release, but technically none of this stuff is yours. Know what I mean?

Yeah, you put the effort into collecting things, authoring and releasing, but this ownership shit has to be put in check.

Raul - if you did just copy something, you should give credit where it's due.

Dude, I totally agree with that. I edited Blade Runner Criterion.. my 8 disc collection is something I did for myself. and figured I would upload it to everyone. but since everyone seems to be mickey mousing around about the legality of the damn video game. I am totally losing interest in uploading the project. The Criterion looks nice but whatever.. people sure don't make it easy for new people on this thread. I would give credit to all my sources anyway.I am now working on a Robotech/Macross fan edit disc.. so maybe I'll come back with that when I'm done.

1) how am i getting scooped? He's USING mine. That's not a scoop.

2) I never said i owned this. in fact, if you'll check, I said exactly what YOU'RE saying in another thread. However, on this board and the BR newsgroup, I was ripped for not giving credit to some of my extras. So apparently it DOES matter.

Not sure why you're on my back alluvasudden but please get off.

Far be it from me to barge into this, but I think Raul's desire to upload the PC game definitely falls into the spirit of this site. I did a quick search around some sites and aside from Amazon's used list, nobody lists the BR game at all. I've checked Best Buy, Staples, CompUSA, Circuit City, and Gamestop. I'm sure you can also find it on eBay, but I'd hardly call that retail.

I guess my point is that Raul has a point. Here we are, espousing the need to preserve all these laserdisc sets because they're not available on a "modern" media and yet when someone new attempts to do the same thing with something else, they get crapped on. In either case, what we're all doing is probably illegal. Let's face it, anybody that downloads any of the laserdisc (or VHS) preservation sets that does not own those laserdiscs (or VHS copies) is breaking the law. This is even reiterated in the nfo file of every set that's released.

That's all I really have to say on this one.

This preservation community on this forum relates to films that are not yet (or never will be) available on DVD.

The Blade Runner game is not a film.

Distributing an old computer game is not preservation.

(To illustrate this: suppose there was an arcade game of Blade Runner. If you were to dump the ROM code then write a driver so that the game could run in MAME, then that would be preservation.)

(The PC game can still be played on current hardware - so it doesn't need preserving.)
