Hey what do you guys think of this guy since he made his incredibly disrespectful comments about the olympics. I personally feel he should instancely be fired.


for those of you that dont know what happened or who this guy is: he is a fox sports commentator, and he claimed that in his opinion that the winter olypmics was a farse and that the atheletes there arent really the best, he feels this is the case because he there are not many african-born atheletes there. he also feels that the olypmics are dicrimatory for this reason.

Brian gumble shut the F*ck up you peice of shit, there are no black people in the WO because they're are not many black people in the colder regions of the world. and if there arent that many its also the black peoples fault, no one is preventing some black guy from going to putting on some skii's. the fact is Mr' Gumble Black atheletes arent the best in the world by defaut, and saying that the winter olymics is a farse because there are no black guys there is a descress.

If this clown doesnt get fired for that comment it proves that there is a double standard. of ever a white man said that the NBA is decrimetory cause there are not alot of white people in it that guy would be figuretively shot. the black population would be up in arms and he would get fired and probablywould have to start a new carreer.

I believe he's an HBO commentator, not a Fox Sports commentator.

However, it does represent a massive double-standard. Where's HBO on this? He should be sh#t canned...

If you mean Bryant Gumbel, he's the host of Real Sports on HBO.

He's been an arrogant dick ever since the Today Show. Also, considering he's one of the whitest black men alive, I find his comments, if true, amusing.

The U.S. also has a female bobsledder, Vonetta Flowers, who took Gold in Salt Lake City four years ago. She was actually the first black athelete in world history to medal at the Olympics. She returned to Torino to defend, coming in fourth.

And might we add one of the best Olympics movies is about the 1988 Jamaican Bobsled team.

Bryant Gumbel is just sore because (a) he used to work for NBC and they're covering this while he's stuck at home, and (b) Bob Costas, his fellow "sportscaster" at HBO, is also the "anchorman" of the games for NBC.

All together now: "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Incidentally, I think Shani actually silvered in the 1500m. The Italians got gold. But the point is, yes there are a few really good black atheletes in cold-weather sports, just like there are a few good white atheletes in football, basketball and track. To say nothing of the Asians who are kicking ass all over the figure skating rink this year.

IMO, Costas is fantastic at what he does. There are too many ex-athletes who are doing sports coverage nowadays with absolutely no qualifications other than that they're ex-athletes. The one possible exception is Chris Carter, whom I understand does a lot of hard work to get his stories and interviews.

I don't know much about Bryant Gumble... but I heard his "controversial" statement. As far as the Winter Olympics being an over hyped joke - he's spot on.

I'm not too familiar with the winter sports scene.... but I turned on the television a few days ago and they were "Curling." One shithead would slide a block of crap across some ice while two other douchebags tip toed in front of it and swept the ice with barber shop brooms. This is the Olympics? I had to check my bong head to make sure someone didn't slip some crack in there. How long until juggling and spinning plate balancing are Olympic Events? Olympic events should require at least some measure of athletic ability, not just skill.

As for the other crap about the questionable legitimacy of the Winter Olympics given the fact that virtually no "black faces" are seen during competition.... what the fuck would he know? He looks like he barely has the strength to lift his microphone up to his rambling mouth, and his fat ass is in no way black. I consider myself blacker than Bryant Gumble, and that isn't saying much seeing as if I'm subjected to more than 15 minutes of direct sunlight I turn red like a dog dick.... I say "Sheeeeeit" and "Wassup" sometimes so that makes me blacker by default. Spread the word.

I hate Bryant Gumbo as much as the next guy. However, while I think his "no black athletes" argument is silly, I agree 100% that the majority of the athletes at the winter olympics ARE NOT the best athletes in the world. You heard me, they aren't. Or even close. I base this on the fact that a MILLIONTH of a percent of the world's population (black, white, pink, green, ect) never have, and never will have, access to these particular sports. Whereas a far greater number of the world's population will, at some point in their lifetime, have access to a soccer ball, or a baseball, or a basketball. I'm not saying that these particular sports contain the best athletes in the world, or are the best sports in and of themselves. What I am saying, is that there is at least a system where hundreds of millions of people worldwide play these, and the best of the best are able to progress while everyone else is weeded out. I'll take someone who was able to beat out millions of others in their sport over some fucking guy who was able to beat the other thousand or so luge guys who are apparently out there.

yeh what about shot put stinky, you take a rock and throw it as far as you can. curling if you take the time to watch it is actually really interesting because there is so much strategy involved, its as much as a olympic sport as something like diving cause they both require alot of skill.
