I've been diagnosed with this syndrome. I wonder if anyone else here might identify himself/herself with the symptoms described there. I always knew I was legally insane, well, now I REALLY am...
I'm posting this here because I think it's good to let people know about it, I didn't even knew such condition existed until today. I might declare this a dead thread later, if it dosen't serve it's porpouse. “Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering
It's more of a psychological condition so one can have it and not know, which is why I'm posting this. I'd usually not talk about personal stuff here because, well, it's not of your business, but I think that people should know about it and if they should seek a doctor if they feel it's necessary.

1. I would not equate such a syndrome with lunacy.
2. That is freakish... - Dinosaurs were my first thought on a profession, now they are just a hobby. - Computers are now my prefession. - I do seem to have an ability to recall trivial data on a number of favorable subjects. - My social interaction skills leave much to be desired. - I have a unique sense of humor.
However, I don't create my own echoes or suffer from sensor overloads or depression. I do understand the phrase "Did your dog eat your homework?"
Sorry if this sounds insensitive as well, but wouldn't it be hard to tell between this syndrome and someone that has a good memory, is antisocial, and obessesive over something, say, a fanboy of Star Trek or something? Or a goth? Again, take no offence to what I said, I don't mean it to be(that goes for anyone that is a ST fan or a Goth as well).
Asperger's is one of several conditions included in Autism Spectrum Disorder, and is not necessarily to be taken lightly. ric, I don't think you're insane, but that's largely because I beleive that sanity is an illusion; all of us are insane to varying degrees, and it's the ones who think they are sane that we REALLY need to worry about.
If you're wondering why I know about Asperger's, there are 2 reasons: the first is that before I went to law school, I was a psych major; the second is that my youngest son has been diagnosed with ASD.
Hang in there, ric; if my son is any indication, there's plenty of hope for you.
hmm. i find it funny that they come up with a name for that. personally i think almost everyone would have all of those symptoms at some time of there life. especially during puberty and adolesence. i sont thing i am insane but there are times in my life when i do experience most of those symptoms.
Ric, sorry to hear about it, man. Take the treatment seriously, but don't let it screw up your life otherwise. It's too easy to let this sort of diagnosis completely impede on your regular functioning. We're pulling for you. Hoping everything turns out okay.

Please, this test I mentioned here cannot diagnose someone, you can score 100 on it and still be someone normal.
Yes I do realize some of those syntoms are somewhat vague and could be seen in lots of people. But still these are just some common synthoms that could identify this problem. I don't have some of those synthoms described in those articles, I don't have a good memory and I'm not really anti-social although I'm not "mr. saturday night party"; but I do feel my mind works on a different "direction", I fail to understand what people are talking sometimes, I fail to read "between the lines", I cannot identify someone's voice over the phone, I do have compulsive hands and legs movements, numbers and patterns obsessions, and such other insanities.
What I wanted to do here is to warn people about it, to let people know. Like, if I had aids, I would create a post about it and warn people everyday to practice safe sex. Unfortunally I don't know much about it myself, only what I've been told and what've read about it...
And yes I know everything will turn ok, I have a milder form of it, so I can live a normal life with it (as I've been doing). I might seek treatment, but for some reasons I'll have to do it with a different doctor.
Well I think I've made my point already, so uh... perhaps this thread could be killed. I think I'd rather not talk about it anymore, not on a personal point of view.

If you're not comfortable talking about this anymore, then yes, we should kill it. The 'not to be taken lightly' comment was directed at Windexed, who stated that Asperger's is the new ADD. Sorry for the mix-up, ric.
