There are some great chiptune artists on the Minibosses forum I frequent.  A lot of great video game music cover bands as well.  Unfortunately it's been down for a week now...

And just like that, it's back up.

If you post there, I'd be happy to vouch for you.

Was this the right forum to post in? The description at the top says "A message board to talk about the band"

I do a podcast about weird stuff, which has lead me to talk to a few fan editors/preservationists from this site, including TVs Frink and Q2Harmy, Molly, and Mike Verta. You can also click around for other interviews with a webcam dominatrix, a conspiracy theorist podcaster, noise musicians, various Gawker commenters, a spokesperson for the religion based on the Big Lebowski, and much, much more. (Ok, maybe not that much more yet.)

It is the right forum, but I don't see the thread.

Bad wording on my part. I hadn't posted yet, but I will now. Also, about to email your other suggestion.

Actually, before I post there, I'd like to look for someone doing something different than what Brad Smith does. Communication with him is taking a while, but it sounds like he's going to do it.

My gf was telling me there's basically two camps of chiptunes though, hardchip and softchip or something? I think he does his stuff on his computer, but I can't really tell.

Any idea of what he does and what I should be asking for on their forum?

Sorry, I'm actually not really into chiptunes, I listen to VG covers.

Great. I'll definitely listen to it when I get some free time. :)

What can you get a Wookiee for (Life Day) Christmas when he already owns a comb?

Keeping in mind that, being trans (I don't get into it much), I have a voice that is incredibly jarring if you've seen my avatar, or if you see the handle I use here, but I've had a minor hand in preservations for a while, I could probably do something.

I'm glad you mentioned this, because it wasn't nearly as jarring since I was expecting it.  Still a little odd, but no biggie.

Forgot to this before work... My talk with Mike Verta is up.

Next suggestions: Adywan or someone from Team Negative1.  Preferably the actual Negative1, I would kill to hear that.

Haha thanks, I really appreciate all the suggestions, but I really gotta start moving beyond this forum again.

Also, they both turned me down before -_-

Or at least Adywan did... temporarily. But yeah, I'd love to talk to either of them at some point because the fan preservations of actual prints really interests me, but I gotta diversify a little for at least a month or two. Gotta rope you along for longer somehow :-P

Oh, just for down the road, dark_jedi might be a good one too.  He does all sorts of preservations that I assumed no one would want to watch but apparently people here do watch them.

Ha, well, they'd probably at least love the Mike Verta interview considering his passionate opposition to almost everything Star Wars-related outside of the original cut of the original film.

We'll have to see if they're willing eventually! As I said, I actually would be interested to talk to people doing 35mm transfers and cleanups.

 What's dark_jedi up to?

Also, for anyone curious, the next few weeks will probably be:

-A couple of comic book artists

-(Hopefully!) this great afro-futurist funk/r&b singer (think like, Erika Badu meets Sun Ra)

-Maybe Brad Smith (a chiptune suggestion I got here) if we can keep in contact

-Then probably this Dutch Second Life art-curator I've been talking to a little. I'm trying to infiltrate the absolutely insane world of Second Life-based art, but we'll see how it goes.

As always though, any suggestions are totally welcome! I'll keep checking back here, but I'm also available through email at rob(AT)undressingunderground(DOT)com and on twitter @falconvein.

Like I said, he does all sorts of preservations.  Sampling here:

Also, he has an odd posting style that might translate into an interesting conversationalist.

Thanks. I looked through some of that thread and still not exactly sure what he's doing, but I'll keep him in mind for the future! Thanks again for all the suggestions!

Loved the episode! Yay Frink!

Love the idea of a podcast which tackles niche subjects and people with obscure interests. I for one would be interested to hear an interview to someone from the chiptune community. One name that comes to mind is Brad Smith.

I put up my talk with Brad Smith today! Thanks again for the suggestion! I'm still willing to hear any others.

Ok, last time I'll bump this post (hopefully). Thanks again to everyone. I'll still check back if there's any other suggestions or if anyone else Frink suggested ends up wanting to talk.
