He was banned for something. The post that got him out was removed, so I don't really know why.

In light of the recent Blu-Ray announcements, I will continue to watch my SW LD's for a long time to come. I've got the 89/90/92 releases, the 97SE set and even the TPM JPN release too. Till I get everything transferred, the 12" silver discs are my preferred route for enjoying the films in the versions I saw in the cinema and on TV.

Besides, I have a stack of OOP Criterion discs and other stuff that seems unlikely to ever see the light of day on newer formats.

While I own the 2004 DVD set and the Blu-ray set, there's no doubt I'll buy a Laserdisc player and a set of OT LDs at some point. I'm not really interested in GOUT given that I own a widescreen LCD TV and would rather not like to mess with the upscaling settings for my BD player everytime I want to watch the OT. I'm aware that blowing a Laserdisc up to 42" will probably make things look a little rough around the edges, but if that's what it takes...

Besides, there's a certain charm to Laserdisc. I live in Denmark which was never a major LD market - there's only ever been one single LD release here. So I'm very curious about these discs. Never even seen one in action before. Main issue is negotiations with my girlfriend about where to put the damn thing, though! I'm sure a lot of the guys here can relate to that ;)

Its these kinds of situations where being single is a blessing. The main room in my home has enough hardware and gadgetry to power NASA, one friend called it "Houston Control". Unless I had an enlightened girlfriend who appreciated the value of my hobbies, my lifestyle would probably cause so many conflicts. :)
