Anyone else totally disregard John Williams being the composer for the Star Wars films?

Don’t get me started on that pretentious old fool! When I watch the movies, I pretend that they were scored by Phil Collins. When Anakin and Padme hold hands at the end of Clones (great movie!), I hear nothing but this running through my head.

I was just going to say no… But now you mention it, Phil’s version of You Can’t Hurry Love could add bathos to the Luke, Leia romance.

THAT would be an exceptional fan-edit: the prelogy without any recut, but with songs by Phil Collins instead of the music of John Williams!

You said “the music of Phil Collins.”

You’re absolutely right. I did not know that in addition to Star Wars exegetes, there were also Genesis purists around here.

I don’t believe Genesis purists would even regard those songs as Genesis.

But then, if those songs are not Phil Collins and not Genesis, what are they?

Then I’m definitely not a Genesis purist.

But I already knew that. I’ve never heard anything from the the Peter Gabriel era and have only recently discovered the joys of their mid-70’s-to-1980 work.
