Any Chess Players Out There? — Page 2

My crowning moment in chess in my mind was when I was maybe 10,11, or 12, I was playing against my dad and he moved his queen into position and proudly announced checkmate.

I studied the board for just a minute and then promptly killed his queen with my knight.

IT WAS THE GREATEST RISK COMEBACK OF ALL TIME. I WAS ABLE TO WIPE OUT MY DAD'S ASIAN FORCES ALONG WITH EUROPE. I THEN CRUSHED MY UNCLE IN THE AMERICAS. MY UNCLE WAS SO PISSED THAT A TWELVE YEAR OLD HAD BEATEN HIM AND WON THE GAME THAT HE VOWED TO NEVER PLAY THAT GAME AGAIN. MY DAD WAS SO PROUD OF ME.

Haha - now that's a war history I'd like to read about...

OH. MAN, IT WAS GREAT. IT ALSO WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAD WON THE GAME.

Clue is good. I like it.

Really, card games are my bag. You name the card game, I play it. Okay, a bit of an exaggeration, but yeah.

In Oz, the game's called 'Cluedo' for some reason - although most people are aware that it is called 'Clue' elsewhere because of the books (and we also had an interactive TV show called 'Clue' where you could ring in and guess who did it - they had actors, storylines, yada yada yada - pretty cool).

a simple online player vs computer chess game - no software, registration or downloads required.

'Tis a little on the easy side, and there is no 'en passent' move - but overall quite decent.

also www.555.games.com have a few other similar fun online games too.

I just beat the computer on that site at the lowest level. I made many mistakes. Still, it is not bad for someone who has not played a game of chess for about 2 years.

This is a pretty good site for online "correspondence" chess. You can play a game with someone in real time, however each player (depending on the rules) gets like 40 days of time to play. I've played a few games on the site.

I thought it was interesting the way they pulled off certain things, like having multiple games running at the same time, etc.

hahahaha MAN I LOVE RISK it is seriously one of the funnest games ever made. a couple months ago I was playing LOTR risk, and man ,y buddy stabbed me in the back and broke a treaty, man he paid dearly for it. if you can imagin a map of middle earth, me and him owned the top. i had everthing from the misty mountains west and he had all of the east. ok so what thus bastard does we had a treaty that we wouldnt attack eachother for 3 turns from the top part of the misty montains. what this clown does is in one turn he brings in like 15 armys and attacks through there, and jsut draws a ling right threw my empire preventing me from getting all of my continent bonuses. man i was pissed so the next turn i broke through moria, and just distroyed half of his empire. unfortunately because of our little MAD war my other buddy was able to take both of us out in the end.

you knwo i never realyl learned how to play clue, that would be a fun one. monopoly is awesome, hey HLF did i ever tell you about that game i had with navina. seriously that game is one of the major reasons she hates my guts hahaha.

I've got Chessmaster 6000 (maybe its 7000, not quite sure about the number) and the best AI I've been able to beat is the Novice. Its also been a while since I last played a game.
I don't think I'm all that good.

I've actually never played Risk...but I have played the shareware version of a Windows-based game called World Empire (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.), which claims to be similar to Risk.

Does anyone remember like 10 years ago, there was a Star Wars Battle Chess videogame?

i remember it was on PC & SEGA CD...it was a decent computer chess game, and the animations were funny as hell

I remember that.

Another game I've always liked was Ratrace.

I'm really bad for winning almost every game I play with my group of friends, be it a board game, card game, or the like.

I've got it, and it still runs just fine, even on Windows XP.
Best part: The site I found it at indicated its abandonware. I'd have to go searching for it again though, I don't remember where it was that I did find it.

OK Warbs...this is the longest I've ever gone without taking a piece. We're both playing well tactically speaking. Now I'm at an impasse and have been hitting that Analysis board all darn day! Gee, I'm REALLY glad to have posted the Scheming Mind info...
