Animating lightsabers in behind-the-scenes

Hey all.

Is there any book, documentary or (unlikely) Dvd feature that shows how the lightsabers were animated and composited in the oot? I’m really curious what scale they were drawn, how it was photographed, colored, philosophy of motion blur, etc.

I think there are a few videos / docs / specials etc (and some ‘youtube shorts’) in here, mate:-

OT lightsaber colours (2019 thread; and some waffling on about the various colours used across the OT & Expanded Universe etc)

^ In the ‘Ⓗ • A few documentaries and specials on lightsabers in Star Wars’ category.

Although some of the other categories in there may also have content on the animation, compositing, and rotoscoping etc for lightsabers in the Original Trilogy films.

There is also a ‘mini-index’ of lightsaber threads on here - at the end of the thread linked above - that may be of interest / help, as well. 👍

I understood it to be rotoscope animation. But that was where my knowledge ended.
