An Index Thread (and more) for Case Covers, Disc Labels, and Fan Art

Hopefully this thread will help us find some the various covers and box sets etc that have been made by OT•com members over the years. There are also some ‘useful links’ to cover sites, art sites, guides & manuals for making your own sets, printing advice & information etc - whether for ideas, inspiration or just to print out & use…

This Index is obviously incomplete - and my humble & sincere apologies to anyone I’ve overlooked or missed out. If anyone has any suggestions for covers, art, projects or links etc to be added to this Index, please post them below - thank you.

Some members here have also made a lot more covers and box sets etc than are linked to below (these are just the links that I’ve found so far - that still contain working pictures in them at the time of compiling this post). Unfortunately, a fair few quality covers have been lost over time due to changes on imageshack, photobucket and other photo hosting websites over the years…

…and sadly, I don’t think the great kevin.alfahosting.org & home.pages.at/grisan/ cover repositories of yesteryear are coming back online…

The Index Categories are… (these may well change and evolve over time)

• Recent Star Wars film releases - Art and Cover threads
• Box Sets and 3-in-1 / Trilogy / Box Set covers
• Single case covers
• Rikter’s Cover Collection Disc (2004)
• Rikter’s Cover Collection Disc (with some updates & links) - by Williarob & Depheros
• Jetrell Fo’s Cover Collection
• Useful Links (to other related ot•com threads)
• Generic Custom Cover website links
• Guides / Video Tutorials on making your own box sets, covers, sleeves & also printing etc
• Some useful Star Wars crawl and font info

How to post an image up on the OriginalTrilogy•com (and more how to’s, queries and answers) - link

If you are new to the originaltrilogy•com then the following info may be of some assistance…

Firstly, the About and Help sections may be of interest to you regarding this site and what the OriginalTrilogy•com is about.

Secondly, the ’How do I do this?’ on the OriginalTrilogy.com - some information & answers to queries thread may also be helpful as to some of the functions of the site too, and a bit more info as well.

Thirdly, the Announcements Section - including Site Rules & Guidelines, Fan Edit & Preservation Rules & FAQ, as well info for Signatures, Linking, and Spoiler Rules & Guides may be of use too.

If anyone sees any decent, interesting, unique, or just quality covers out there - or has more suggestions for threads to be added to the ‘useful links’ section, please post or link to it below - thank you.

Also, please post up any covers or links you come across from the following very talented artists - ReverendBeastly, Falle, HotRod, AvP, Spyderbyte, Chainsaw Ash, Imrahil, Coov, and Yourfriendkaysar - much of their quality work has sadly been lost on here over time…

(and also let us know if you spot any mistakes or broken links on here - thanks)

This thread was originally just a few links to some of the quality 3-in-1 covers or box sets, though has grown into somewhat of an unwieldy mammoth… hopefully it’ll still be of some help in finding some of the quality covers & art on here.

Coov

would love to have this one…does anyone know if Coov ever put a link?

^ Sadly, I don’t think he did mate (or if he did, the links are no longer working - which unfortunately happens quite a lot for some of the older covers etc on here).

It may be worth PM-ing Coov to see if has a copy, or hopefully someone else out there will have a copy of it and be willing to share (or inspire someone to do a new version of it).

It is indeed a quality cover, as many were/are by the very talented Coov… a shame much of his work has been lost over time.

I feel honoured & humbled to be listed in such a talented group of visionary creators & Artists! I have since enhanced my Box set & even made another. I actually took the time to take more decent photos & might try to upload some?

Kudos to you SIR for taking the time & effort to compile such a huge listing.

Many thanks for your kind words mate - though none are necessary 😃

Please do post up some photos and a link to your enhanced box - and the new one too in here.

Also mate, please have a think about starting your own thread too - some top quality work you’ve done deserves to have a place to be posted up for us all to see - and easily find 😃

or perhaps post them in one69chev’s superb ‘Box Set and materials used thread’ too? in here… http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Box-Set-and-materials-used-thread/id/53169

I’ve updated the original links above - and changed the format a little - so hopefully they are a little easier one eye and easier to find a particular link/thread.

Have also added some ‘useful links’ and ‘single case covers’ links too.

edit 1 - have also added a list of some custom cover websites.

edit 2 - have now added some links on some guides for how to make your own box sets.

Any suggestions for more covers and threads etc to be added are always welcome 😃

Haven’t been on OT in quite awhile (and mostly lurk anyway) but have to say thank you so much to oojason for taking the time to compile this extensive list. I’m continually amazed and awestruck by all of the effort I see here.

If you see any covers, art or useful links that I’ve overlooked or missed - or think would be a good addition, please post them in here - thank you 😃

I was just thinking, “I wish I had a basic Photoshop Blu-ray cover Template I could use as a starting point for some new Project 4K77 cover art…”

Has anybody ever created (and then shared) a basic Photoshop PSD for each film? Such a template might, for example, come in a couple of standard sizes (bluray, DVD, disc label), and have all the standard/official boiler plate text in editable text layers. It might have all the studio logos, ratings and warnings, again, each on their own layer/linked layers making it easy to re-position them, edit or delete them. Maybe have placeholders for a few screenshots (pre-loaded with some of the common ones that you see on the backs of the official boxes, but easy to swap out with your own). Stuff like that.

I imagine that, those of you who regularly produce new covers to share here probably already have a few such templates, that you modify and improve on over time.

Making something like that available would make it really easy for those of us who are not so artistic, to produce some quite professional looking covers of our own, since all we’d really need to do is drop in our own favorite posters, resize and position them, maybe move some logos around a bit, edit some text (e.g. the special features, or audio information specific to this version) and then print it out.

I realize this might seem a little unfair, after all, I’m sure you all spent a lot of time and effort creating your templates and the thought of sharing them with everyone for free is probably not something you considered, but remember - other people on these forums - Poita, Harmy, myself, and many others have spent literally years and thousands of dollars restoring the films and working on the projects that you are now making covers for, using skills that perhaps you don’t have, and we share all of those projects here with you for free…

Anyway, that was my thought.

Nice one Williarob - and a cracking idea above too.

If you have time, could you be so kind as to knock one up in a .png or jpeg format too, please?

(For those without Photoshop or software that uses the PSD format)

Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? And say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

For what it’s worth, GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) can handle PSDs.

Paint.net can handle PSDs as well.

And they are both free.

The NJVC Custom Bluray Set of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions is up on Mega.

Some of those broken links may, hopefully, come back if photobucket realise the error of their ways and bring back 3rd party sharing. Some members also temporarily remove pics to update/edit them - and then put them back up later.

If there are any broken links that you’d like to see removed - let us know which ones they are - thank you.

Also, if there are any additions you’d like to see added - please suggest or link to them in here (and they’ll be added to the Index itself when the moderators have enough time to do so) - and can still be found by fellow members of the community meanwhile 😃

Harmy has put up a video on youtube - just to remind everyone that Fan Edits must never be bought or sold.

Personally, as a member here, I’d encourage everyone to watch it and upvote that video.

I made my own version of Coov’s insert by using found imagery, recreation, and borrowing. Like it or hate it. Cheers.

Wow - like it a LOT (am a big fan of the Hildebrandt artwork).

Great work mate - really impressive, and always good to see more quality 3-in-1 covers too 😃

Anybody got some good german covers of ANH “Krieg der Sterne”, ESB “Das Imperium schlägt zurück” and ROTJ “Rückkehr der Jedi-Ritter”?

I’d much prefer the original theatrical posters and fonts as a cover and spine with maybe just the plot and some harmy info on the back, but I’ll look into anything suggested. 😃

Also: Especially leaflets in german would be AMAZING!

I know this is mainly an english speaking board, but I’ve noticed some german users anyway.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Incredible. Just the amount of images and information in this thread…

I thought I would post here and maybe catch the correct person’s attention. I am attempting to create some box set covers and the process is pretty straight forward, only I am having some difficulty creating the artwork for the box sets. I was printing on label paper and cutting to size but I have been having some trouble getting the sizes right, pixel to inch conversions and all that.

Has anyone else attempted this and had success?
