Amazon.com ratings crucial to LFL reversal!

Hey all,

I just tacked up my own scathing "1 star" review for the O-OT DVDs on Amazon. So far there are only 35 reviews for these, yet our petition has tens of thousands of signatures. This could send a visible message not only to LFL but to MILLIONS of potential buyers waiting for this release. We have a chance here to make a serious positive impact in conjunction with the letters and e-mails to LFL. Oh, and if anyone has the time, HARD COPY LETTERS to LFL will really send a message where e-mails fail.

I implore all of you to post an opinion at Amazon.com. It could make a big difference before September.

I dont think it will affect Lucasfilm except telling what they already know. It will however probably scare unaway unknowing casual-consumers, so i suppose that is good. Dont expect it to make LFL release a real version of the OOT because of our pouting--when and if that happens it will be for financial gain, like anything else.

I happen to think that making people not buy these could actually be harmful to the future of the OUT. Luckily I also happen to think you have no chance of impacting sales significantly.

Based on GL's comments in the past, I could see him cancelling these just to spite the fans and various media outlets for daring to question the quality of the release or his motives.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

I think that we are between a rock and a hard place. If we don't buy it, Lucas will decide that there is no market for the original movies and we will never see them again, and open the door for more changes. So stopping sales of them might not be the best thing we could do.

Unfortunately, even if this release sold like hotcakes, George Lucas would never change his mind.

Except for the fact that he always changes his mind. He just always denies it.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Heh, maybe. But, I'm currently thinking it most likely that their is no logical system by which his brain operates.

Believe me, I never said it was logical. That'd be the biggest lie since the non-anamorphic scandal!

Well, alright, so one way or another it seems as if his mind changes on the outside. I think we can agree there. So, then the question is whether or not buying these DVDs and making them successful will somehow induce such a perceived change.

I don't think so. It should be obvious to Lucas already that there is a market for the original trilogy. Even if stupid fans supposedly like the SEs more, there are still enough of us purists who want the originals that a restored version would make easy profits. His earlier taunting excuse about this being a test is meaningless to me.
