Surprise, surprise... I might have stumbled upon more Alien 1-4 materials, most of the things we never heard of. Will keep you posted as more info becomes available. It seems Alien Appendix #7 might happen way before Ridley starts working on Alien 5 :)

Very cool,great news!

I also have now Alien Makers II NTSC,I will hopefully have Alien Makers III NTSC sometime tomorrow.

Great news! And here's an idea for an easter egg: on last weekend's Saturday Night Live, there was an Aliens parody involving Sigourney Weaver and James Cameron (the real ones!). It was not very funny to me but since it's Aliens related, why not include it :)

I've started uploading the Alien Makers PAL verisons to RS, Thread coming soon.

I've spoke to Dennis Lowe, i asked him if it was ok to make a thread here about the Alien Makers DVD's and he said yes and he encourages anyone to mention and distribute these DVD's freely to anyone.

No specifics on AA7 yet (it's being compiled from old VHS tapes), but 18min 8mm film of Alien should be there and footage should span at least first 3 movies.

It's nice to know that documentary on Alien fans is in the making... looking forward to it!

Hi everyone! Glad to see the project is still moving on at such a pace. Haven't had a chance to properly look at AA5 and AA6 yet, but at first glance they seem to be superbly turned out - great work TB!

On the point of the Alien 8mm film... I was actually working on a version of this for a while last summer (before I lost all my spare time), in collaboration with Rijir.

I did a basic projector-based transfer to HDV, which I subsequently colour corrected (as much as possible), resized to SD and encoded - audio was captured separately, cleaned up (again, as much as possible), and synced.

I haven't mentioned this before because (a) I ran out of time to do the authoring and menus that I had planned, and (b) despite making the transfer to the best standard possible with my resources, I wasn't too thrilled with the quality.

However! If the alternative is an old VHS transfer, I suspect my version might still have its uses - it may be a good idea for me to extract a sample for comparison, at least...

Yeah! i'd like to see a smaple if you do make one, i've only seen one extremely small clip of the Alien 8mm reel.  It's something i've been meaning to get my hands on but everytime i try i either get outbid or money becomes an issue.  A friend of mine was suppose to recieve one from a fmaily member from the states so we contact a few companies who transfer 8mm to DVD, each onewere reluctant to do it as they were affraid of copywrite infringements.

Has anyone asked Puggo if he'd be willing to transfer the 8mm film?

Yes, though not recently. I mentioned it to him about a year ago - he's certainly an Alien fan and would potentially be interested in doing the transfer, but he simply did not have the time then. Things might be different now that Puggo Grande is finished, so we should probably talk to him again.

By the way, I mentioned colour correction before - I should elaborate. The copy I had to work with (supplied by Rijir) was completely faded to red, and according to my research it would appear that most copies out there are the same - a problem with the cheap film stock used, apparently. I used some fairly capable correction software to pull out what colour information there was, but that aspect will never be great. That said, a professional datacine transfer will potentially yield a superior source for adjustment, so it may yet be worthwhile.

Anyway, I'll PM some links to a sample shortly...

Hello! I got some new clips from Alien, Aliens and Alien 3, so AA7 is in the works! I can't identify 3 UK shows from 1992 about Alien 3. Does anyone know what shows or at least what TV stations those might be from? Paula Yates was a host of one show, so it was probably The Big Breakfast or The Tube.
