A disc solely featuring the merchandise could be done (games, toys, etc).

Restored score sequences are also an idea....

Meedermow... Jonno... you guys still around?

I have to say, as a big fan, Alien Wars was a lot of fun. I did it summer of 93 in London. It was about 10 minutes long I think. A man in an Alien suit, dark cooridors, an Alien egg I think, screaming marines, great fun. The fun for me was watching the people I was with freaking out and a few "died" along the way. When you were done, you basiclly just exited next to a window with a few props. Ripley's Reebok sneakers from Aliens were there. I still have the ticket somewhere.

Would be great to have a no holds bared multi-location, big budget version, but this is still a lot of fun. Would love to do it again.

Yup, I did the London War the same year! Summer of 1993. Would LOVE to do it again.

Hey guys! RecentlyUK's  Channel 5 had a TV special "Greatest ever 80s movies" which listed Aliens at  #4. There was a 4 minute featurette on aliens featuring new interview with Michael Biehn. I have a copy of it. Also there is a BBC NEWS clip on youtube about Alien wars that ofer rare clips of original Alien war grand opening. BBC NEWS. Also there is a rumour of Alien saga being released on Blu-ray by the end of the year! I think that's enough news to get us back on track producing those great Alien supplemental discs...

I would love to see this project move on.  I even have stuff to contribute.  But it seems to have died.

Well, if the original producers of appendix DVDs have retired then I'm interested in producing the new DVD myself. Let's keep this moving fast - I'm not interested in compiling clips for a single DVD for years due to nonresponsive fans (like it happened with the last unreleased disc). This is beneficial to all of us Alien fans so every single second of unreleased material is appretiated. I intend to make full capacity DVD, so whoever has footage to contribute with, please list it here ASAP so we can start rolling...

Hi everyone. I get an email every time this thread gets bumped so I haven't been far away - it's great to see that there's still enthusiasm for the project, and I'm sorry I haven't had more to contribute recently.
I can't speak for Meedermow (who I haven't been in touch with, not sure if he even frequents this forum any longer?), but here's the best progress report I can give...

The Aliens Archive is about 60% finished, but it's proved to be an unbelievable PitA! Compared with the Alien Archive - which was a breeze to put together - I've hit so many problems and frustrations with this compilation that I've had to leave it and come back to it about 5 or 6 times.
It's all been rather infuriating, but since I'm not about to distribute a substandard product, it's resulted in a painful lack of progress. Add to that the common story of lack of personal time (I'm embarking on a new career which has literally required me to go back to school, so free time has not exactly been plentiful) and I haven't stood much of a chance to get things done. So, sorry again - I would have very much liked to keep up the productivity on these, but circumstances have conspired against me!

Here's what I'd suggest. Having come this far, assembled the source materials and started authoring, I'd like to get this disc finished myself (if only for peace of mind!) I'll put the time in over the next few weeks, and get it done and out of the way so things can start moving again.
In the meantime, I'll send what I have for the later discs - those based around films 3 and 4 - to tb1971 (who's been this project's champion throughout, and I can't think of anyone better suited for taking over) so he and RIJIR can take on the curating and assembly of those.

On other mooted projects: the CBS cut of Aliens, which was Meedermow's 'baby', would depend on his input - not sure if that's going to happen. The super-8 Alien, which is something I'd personally love to see get done, might take a bit of time to get off the ground - RIJIR has the film, but none of us currently has the means (or, let's face it, the funds) to get that properly transferred.
Did I miss anything?

Anyway, I'm happy to see that so many folks are sticking around and keen to continue with this - looking forward to seeing what comes out of it :)

Okay, now is the time to list our footage individually so we can start figuring out who's got what and start making arrangements. Please confine your listings to the video footage only. This is what I have:

ALIENS:
- TV spot for Aliens (TV1000, 1 min). Advertised as the winner of 2 academy awards and it has graphics that mimic Aliens logo
- TV spot for Aliens (DirectTV, 30 seconds). With Sigourney filmed to match powerloader scene.
- Greatest ever 80's movies: Aliens #4 (Channel 5, 3 min). With new M. Biehn interview.
- Aliens: ride at the speed of fright - pre-ride & ride films (8 min)
- Alien war - 4 promo ads & newsreports: beyond 2000, hrt, bbc news (18 min)

ALIEN 3:
Pepsi promo ad Alien 3 (1 min)

ALIEN SAGA:
International tv special: dissected (22 min). Made to promote AVP2 but half of it features behind the scenes and interview segments on Alien 1-4.

I was wondering if there was any luck finding A2 reebok clip, HBO specials, A3 epk, A2 Movie Magic & Alien War documentary? There is also documentary called "VISUAL FUTURIST: The Art & Life of Syd Mead". Since Mead designed Sulaco this doc might feature some Aliens segments. Does anyone have it and is it worth the $30 + s&h purchase?

I've uploaded my new Aliens stuff for Jonno to have it included on new Appendix DVD (feel free to download it if you can't wait for "official" release). Hopefully any of you out there who still haven't contributed with their footage will do so soon, so I can start working on next Appendix disc...

Yes, there is always good stuff laying around, just waiting to be found & shared. Jonno should be contacted for any A1+A2 stuff and I for A3+A4 (triffid, where are you?). It'd be a shame if we don't release at least one new Appendix disc before the official quadrilogy blu-ray set is released by the end of the year.

I got those clips, thanks TB! Assembly of AA4 continues - I'll get my collected A3/A4 materials over to you pronto for the other discs.

I provided the Siskel and Ebert review of Aliens and I don't belive it was used on the last one.  So that is still pending.

I just got a documentary on visual futurist Syd Mead and there is a short segment on Aliens, with some sketches I've never seen before (actually, as it turnes out Mead designed a lot of stuff not just Sulaco). I'll have it uploaded for Jonno.

Has anyone located (or seen) the famous Reebok clip from Aliens or cocooned Burke scene?

Regarding Siskel & Ebert - if there are multiple copies of the same clip available, we should check for better quality.

I got an official press kit of Alien lying around here with some photo's, info and badge's. Is that any intresting to scan and upload?

I believe Alien appendix project is intended for video footage only. If there is an interest for CD-Rom compilation of printed promo materials and news articles a new thread should be opened so this one stays on track...

A few years ago UK's Channel 5 had a TV special "Greatest ever scary movies" with a video segment on Alien that topped#the list. Does anyone has that show (or any other in the series for that matter)? http://www2.five.tv/programmes/greatestevermovies/countdown/?list=2
