Wow. I can't believe that Don Knotts died. He's one of those people I thought would live forever. I haven't been this surprised by a death since John Ritter.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Very few people know this, but on the webcomic Superosity, Don Knotts once played DARTH VADER:

Rest In Peace, Don Knotts.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

As a Carolina boy who grew up with Andy Griffith re-runs on TV every day, this really, really, really cuts deep.

I will miss Don Knotts. Like Lucille Ball before him, he was a true pioneer of TV comedy. If only the crap that is foisted on us now had a hint of the hysterical delivery of Don Knotts, be it Barney Fife or Ralph Furley. And to summarise it, here's a line from "The Mayberry Rap" which I'm quoting from memory after 20 or so years 'cause Google yeilds no hits.

I'm Deputy Fife
The Law is my life
And you can say it's in my blood
Whenever there's trouble
I'm there on the double
To NIP IT IN THE BUD!

Got a gun, never cock it
Got a bullet in my pocket
And a gal named Thelma Lou
There's Goober and Emmit
and Howard and Otis
And Floyd the Barber too (c'mon Floyd)

[recite it with me now if you know it]
Ooooo, oooooo, boy needs a haircut, oooooo
Ooooo, oooooo, boy needs a haircut, oooooo
I am fluent in over six million forms of procrastination.

Heh, that's a pretty awesome rap, but weren't Howard and Emmit character who were introduced after Barney left the show?

IMHO. one of his funnyest films was "The Privite Eyes". look for it on dvd if you have not seen it.
also "Hot Lead & Cold Feet" was funny.

I wish "The Prize Fighter" was put on DVD! he was funny in that one also.

I will miss "Mr. Furley!"

RIP Mr. Don Knotts.

With Don Knotts dead, how many survivors from the original cast of its a mad mad mad mad world are there? I can think of Sid Ceaser, Mickey Rooney and Jerry Lewis only...
