Abandoned! - Felicity (1998 WB Series) w/ Original Music Restoration Project

EDIT: This project has been abandoned due to a variety of factors. I’ll go into slightly more details about specifics once I’m given the okay. Nothing dramatic, but more exciting. So stay tuned!

Wow. I loved Felicity back when it aired, and the generic music it has now on streaming services is terrible. This is an awesome undertaking you’re doing!!

instagram.com/felicityrestorationproject is the insta I run. I assume you are using my resources right? Not mad but I know you had my audio for your Season 1 episodes. I’m curious to see how the blu-ray will look tho. The Season 1 you had of mine tho was wildly outdated.

Hello! Yes, I am using resources from you and another user for the audios I didn’t have. Actually, my own audios of S1 was the season with the least amount of holes, lol. Once the project is released, I’ll definitely credit y’all for providing the resources, it’s been a big help!

Also, I tried upscaling the show through PremierePro as a test and it was…okay. Honestly, the DVDrips actually look pretty good being purely upscaled by my 4KTV. Still testing how a 1080p encode would look, but no promises, lol.

Not all of them were bad but did you acquire more since then? I wouldn’t know how to upscale the actual video file but I would def love to see the finished project. and let me know if you run into any snags.

Oh wow, that was you back in the day? Small world! Yes, I have been able to get a few more audios since - which has helped a lot.

I’ll be sharing how to view this project once I get close to the end of restoring the entire series. Don’t want to announce things too early when I haven’t even completed the first season, lol. But thanks for your interest!

Thanks so much for doing this! I’m watching on a streaming service right now and the replacement music is truly unbearable.

Are all of the DVDs changed? It looks like there’s a DVD release from 2003 and 2012 so I wasn’t sure if it was just altered for the second release? Thanks!

Yup, all of them.

Every couple years I google “Felicity original soundtrack” to see if such a thing exists. The original music made SUCH a difference to the show! Thanks for working on it and I can’t wait to see any/all episodes!

Yes, I definitely will! I’ve had to slow down these past few months due to personal issues. But I just started picking it back up so I’m hoping to pick up steam soon!

Super interested to hear about this project. I do have the Felicity dvds and just finished the series once again but honestly the music on the dvds is often a deterrent and doesn’t even match the scenes. One key frustration for me (given I just finished the series) was hearing Trespassers William’s “Lie in the Sound” (a song I do love) over a scene where I’m certain Azure Ray’s “Displaced” played previously and was so much more suitable.

I saw such a thing was possible with another series I loved where they had replaced most of the music (Roswell) and it really was fantastic to be able to watch it with the original music.

I stumbled across this forum after watching Felicity on Disney + this weekend. I used to watch it on TV and then on DVD.
Like most people on this forum, I was disappointed when I found out so many of the songs from the original broadcast were excluded in the DVD copy, but at least kept the Sarah McLachlan songs for the final scene (Elena’s wedding).
I was even able to, after a while, accept “Like lovers do” for the Gold Rush scene as it still fit the tone of the original series, but the SVOD track? 👎👎👎☹️
The show isn’t the same with the replacement songs. Now I know how Dawson Creek fans felt with their new theme song. But whoever produced that was able to get the rights to play that theme once.
How can Felicity SVOD have NO Sarah McLachlan songs?!?

Keep lurking at this page every other month, long time fan here who can’t stand the replacement songs. I was wondering if there’s anything I could do to help you. I don’t have any original audios but I’ve got some sound editing knowledge and would love to work on a project like this.
