I think that if you take this edit to the next level like adywan's kind of way, you commit to it and make radical changes that every star wars fan has always wanted, then you have something very special here. But you will truly need to commit to it and make incredibly radical changes. So far it looks good but you could do so much more.

Dont you know BobGarcia's edit for episode 3? Its the closest thing for the result you are looking for ;)

I am uploading it to Vimeo. It'll take about 30 minutes.

I would love to go the extra difficulty and make a "definitive" RotS. It'd be really nice if I had access to a concise list of things people want to see out of RotS.

I briefly considered actually buying models of the spaceships and doing conventional model shots to more closely match OT scope and feel. Thoughts?

The only problem is that would require LOTS of money that I don't have, haha. But given the funds, I would totally put in the work to do it.

Wow! Just check your channel and I realized that you were the guy that putted suggestions for adywan a while ago. I remember you. Those clips were excellent. You are really talented;)

Sorry for bad english

Wow! Small world, haha!
Thank you! I try my absolute best when Star Wars is concerned!

Interesting, but could you please point out all the changes so I don't miss anything. I like when obi force pushes him and the more fluid fight. I can't wait till you put griveous new voice. I'm not crazy about the closeup in the eyes, I never liked it because its very unstarwarsy. Overall looks good to me and I'm sure that when you put all the sounds and maybe record new lines for griveous, it'll be perfect.

Sorry for bad engish

There it is!

Don't forget that the audio isn't finished yet. I'm also going to be editing Grievous' voice.

Great new arms and sabers. It sells the idea that he has still 4 hands. :D

I liked the headshot. pretty clean kill. :)

Some notes: Note a bit the bluringess of the saber blade so it matches a bit mroe with the rest of movie :)

Yeah, I'm still not sure about the closeup of Grievous. I just wanted to see what it looked like, really. Will probably just take it out.

Most notable changes:

-Removed MagnaGuard smashing

-Slightly reorganized clips

-Removed hand slicing (Added hands and lightsabers to subsequent shots)

-New effect shot when Obi force pushes Grievous

-Forgot to add hands to one shot. I'll fix that

-Streamlined the "fistfight" between Grievous and Obi.

-Obi-Wan no longer shoots the crap out of Grievous

The idea of the slowmotion isnt working for me but i can respect of what visual style you want to achieve.

Dont forget that if you want to be more into the OT the direction changes a lot in terms of camera work and shot duration per second.

I will surprize you how different a movie looks with different time only cuts.

The rest of your cuts are excellent and seamless!

You just gave me a great idea to fix that shot! Thank you very much. I'm also (almost regretting) looking at your DA page.

You have so many incredible ideas that I can't help but want to steal. Can you tell me how you've created those wonderful matte shots?

Photoshop (cs3=still the best), 3dsmax(vray) and photo manipulation( alot)

The rest is the work of the editor to put his idea/my execution in motion.

Ooh, so it's not really anything too fancy, then. Blast. I can paint, but I wish I was competent at 3D. But... if I want the model look, that might not be a problem, haha.

Depends, really.

ROTS have that CG look. either you continue to give something photorealistic CGI  to blend with the movie or go with the from scratch route and make everything from models(the miniatures that were used in ROTS doesnt count :P)

Its all about the execution and balance

As much as I'd like to use models, I might just take a more balanced route - altering or taking away from the existing CG. I want to avoid MORE CG when at all possible.

So far, I've already got plans to limit the CG-ness of some of the shots, while still retaining the original visuals

There are numerous ways of reducing the CG-ness. I really want to see what you will come up with:D

You forgot to bold this one :p

Nice editing Aalenfae, while watching the clip I thought why not cut the sabre fight all together, let Obi-Wan wait till the robot thing with the swords starts showing off then he force pushes it away.....kinda like Indiana Jones in Raiders.

The no arm cutting/4 sabers is believable, but as someone has mentioned, the slow motion when Obi force-pushes Grievous kind of doesn't look right. His voice is better now also. This is going to be interesting edit, but having seen some of the PT edits, I am beginning to slightly doubt that PT can be saved.

Jaitea, I like the "Indiana Jones" style force push idea! I'll try that and see what it looks like. Might add some situational humour - sadly lacking in the prequels.

I'm going to be constructing a different shot of the force push as well, so it won't be the current awkwardly slow one.

There's a bit of an issue where Grievous appears to be standing far from Obi at 0:08, and then is quite close at 0:25. Also, the disappearance of his guards between those two shots is unfortunately conspicuous.

Ooh, you're right! That shouldn't be too terribly hard to fix. Thanks for pointing that out!
