.AVI to DVD

Question : Since all the Star Wars torrents I've downloaded are in the .avi format, how do I go about converting them into a format that will play on my dvd player (or is this even possible)? I am using a PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would much prefer watching these fan-edits on my flat-screen than on my puny computer monitor!

If you downloaded the AVIs, they're probably ~700MB DivX or Xvid files, correct? If so they'll probably look like crap burned to DVD on any TV.

But if you want to convert them, there are several programs - I used DVD Santa on Windows cause it was easy, and I was able to find it free (there's a trial version, but you don't want that). There are others around, but I can't vouch for anything else 'cause I didn't use any of them.

Poke around VideoHelp.com - a lot of useful information there.

Instead, get a DVD player that plays Divx. They can be found for around $30 bucks now. I got a philips that works really well.

It's also nice because the limit isn't the length of the video, but the size of the data. So you can fit 14 300mb episodes or 7 700mb files etc per DVD. All you have to do is throw whatever avi's you want on as a data disc, and it works. No converting, re-encoding etc.
