Has anyone out there ever put the documentary of the making of apocalypse now on dvd?

it was called hearts of darkness: a filmaker’s apocalypse

and i can’t remember exactly what web site has it but there is a much longer cut than either available versions on dvd of the film apocalypse now.

Yes. I did, but it's from an official VHS tape.

I think there was a Laserdisc of this, but I have not the time nor funds to seek it out.

Hearts of Darkness can be downloaded in many places.

I downloaded it a while ago after the 2DVD SE of "Apocalypse Now Redux" had been released, and I slipped it in the digipack as a third "bonus disc".

there was a two disc special edition of apocalypse now redux? i thought only the one disc was out...

I still need the Hearts of Darkness documentary as sourced from the laserdisc dvd.

There is a web site subcin where they have the 5 hour coppola rough cut of the film.

okay so the poland release has it, how does that help me?

there is no official ntsc dvd release of hearts of darkness, either seperately or as a dvd extra.

I know because i've rented the ntsc release of redux. Redux is not the 5 hour workprint.

The vietnam footage in more american graffiti is the only place where you can see what george's version of the film could've been.

Plus the ntsc release of The rain people does not have george lucas great making of doc, filmaker.

Nor does the Carl Foreman film mckennas gold have lucas tone poem form the shoot.

I defintely want lucas version of the apocalypse script he did with milius.

Hearts of Darkness is one of the most requested dvd's on amazon.com.

Not to dredge up an old topic, but does anybody have the 5+ hour rough cut of the film? It'd be nice if this could be torrented somewhere...

I have the workprint (not great quality) and "Hearts of Darkness" unfortunately I haven't had time to watch either. I even have the parody "Porklips Now".

The website works fine. Just E-Mail the guy for info. He responded to my questions within less than a day.

Anyone out there tried the longer cut, but without the french plantation whatever scene ???

That would make the extended edition much better.
