ANH 1985 remix synched (Released)

Currently compressing this to FLAC.

I used an AC3 of GOUT as reference, some of my synching might be a little questionable but it shouldn’t be noticeable (wasn’t to me anyway).

I guess you're talking about the NTSC version, rigth ?
Nice to hear that somebody is MUCH faster then me
Will you share it somewhere ?
Author

Probably (most likely BT).

Of course it's NTSC...I wouldn't have it any other way

I havn't heard or seen any reviews of this yet. But if everyone is happy with Molly's synch, I was going to consider passing on doing one myself.

I haven't torrented it yet, I suppose I can spend tomorrow morning doing so.

It's up, search Mininova for it...

Star Wars 1985 audio resynched and normalized 48 kHz.flac.torrent

EDIT: Past experience says the mods probably won't have a problem if I say "You can also find it at or near the top of usotsuki.info:6969"

Thanks Molly.

It's currently posting to a.b.starwars for those who value anonymity

Strange, the tracker says tehre is 1 seed... but it doesn't seem to be doing well. Hang on a sec.

I've downloaded it a few days ago and I'll seed it a couple of days more for all interested. Thanks Molly

Yesterday over in Harmy's thread somebody talked about reinventing this wheel
so I decided to repost this one to the newsgroup.

Molly's source was seventiesfilmnut's LD rip.
It's a 1989 SWE with shrinking ratio pressed by Pioneer, USA

It's still around?  LOL, half the stuff I do gets lost in the ether.

Thanks for bumping this, hadn't seen it before.  I'm the guy in Harmy's thread interested in getting the 1985 mix included in Harmy's v2.1 release.  Haven't been around in a couple days because work just got really crazy.

I could use some help...

1) Is Molly's synch around anywhere?  I can't find it.  Do you still happen to have it, Molly?

2) I downloaded (and am currently seeding on myspleen) the EditDroid version of SW which has the 1985 mix.  I figured it would be easiest to just extract the audio from this.  In the Harmy thread, analog suggested some programs that do this easily, but unfortunately the free versions will only rip a few minutes' worth and the programs cost $40+.  VLC seems to have a way to do this... but I've tried a few times and can't figure it out.

3) I also have downloaded (and likewise am currently seeding) the raw 1985 rips from the Star Wars Laserdisc Audio archive on myspleen (I haven't downloaded the whole archive- I just selected the 1985 files in my torrent client).  It's split into multiple files (from the multiple laserdisc sides), and I was going to try to stitch these together, but I haven't had time.  (Also, I've never done it before, and wouldn't really know how to GOUT-sync it either).

So, I'm going to try to work on this over the weekend and get it to Harmy before he releases 2.1, but if any of you audio guys could lend a hand I would really appreciate it.  I figure there's got to be a simple way to extract the audio from the VIDEO_TS folder of the EditDroid without having to pay $40.  Thanks all.

Anyone remember different camera angles from ROTJ?

1) I have reposted Molly's sync to alt.binaries.starwars

2) Use PgcDemux to rip the AC3 track from EditDroid . . . or from so-and-so's V3 release.
EditDroid might be off by one frame at the last reel. Remember, there's a frame missing from NTSC GOUT which was present on ED's LDs

Lol!  Thanks for the upload, and thanks to Molly for the track.

Thanks so much for this upload! I've been looking for this for a while!

Darth Mallwalker, thank you so much for uploading, and of course thank you Molly for syncing this in the first place.

I don't currently have access to a newsgroup server so I can't download it at the moment.

But the upload is the finished, GOUT-sync'd file right?  So I could probably just ask Harmy to download it from alt.binaries.starwars, assuming he had newsgroup access?

Not a safe assumption at all, FWIW.  He's more likely to have a copy of so-and-so's v3 he could just rip it from (lossy).

Or rip somebody's Technidisc preservation-- it had the tractor beam mix and GOUT-sync.
Then compare and decide for yourself which of three lossy versions sounds best.

I don't suppose it even matters whether Harmy have news access,
since he already stated he don't know what to do with FLAC files any better than we do!

Who has DTS-MA encoder and knows how to use it?
That person could take Molly's FLAC and give Harmy whatever it is he needs.
If you know such-an-one with DTS-MA skillz, but don't have usenet, then I'm sure we make other arrangements....

Thanks to all who helped and offered help, and Molly in particular for putting the thing together to begin with.  This is encoded and off to Harmy now.
