OK, so let's pretend that George comes back to reality and releases the Original Versions of the OT on DVD. What are we gonna get? The same over saturated, far too dark, messed up audio, green saber versions as in the '04 versions? Even if it is the original versions, it will never be the 'original versions'. Even without the changes, the entire look and feel of the movies have been changed. I feel all hope is lost. I hope my laserdisc player out lives me!

I guess thats what we have to hope for? I hear people mentioning the glory that would be a Criterion release...but you know, I just dont think thats likely.

oh my.. i'd be wet for days if Critereon picked it up. they'd give it the transfer it deserves and the extras we want.
that would never ever happen. lucas doesn't just give stuff to people he *knows* are better than him. he delegates to people he *thinks* are below him. lucky for us, lucas thinks very highly of himself.

ling, the dvd menu creator said in an interview that will not happen. Criterion was addressed specifically. He said look for the O-OT in 2007, as did Kershner and Lowry in interviews.
16 years I wait and this is what I get???

The O-OT in 2007? Really? So, should I keep myself from dying or going blind for the next 3 years, based on the hope they might release it?

You should try to do that anyway ric but yes I believe there is hope enough to keep on going.

Really I never heard any such thing. Bring up the link and I will believe it.

Not sure about the other guys but Ling said there could be another DVD release sometime around 2007 (pulling a date from a hat)... he made sure to point out that he worked with the DVD and has no say in when or what comes out so nobody should quote him at all.

However, I would say that is probably right.... 2005 or 2006, a boxed set of all 6 movies followed in 2007 by what everyone has actually been asking for... but still probably no where near perfect. As we have seen with the 2004 release, they need a bunch of new editors and may oh, I don't know.. a QA process

From what I hear the 2007 6 movie box set will be new versions with additional changes to all 6 movies. There is no official word of the originals being included in this set. Nobody except crazy desperate fans.

I think that it was definitely hinted at in an interview that was posted in another thread. I forget what it was titled.
