Help Wanted: A question about the ROTJ trailers on the Definitive Collection LD set...

I’m sure many fans have done preservations of the supplemental material from the DC boxed set, but I’m wondering if anyone has specifically done high-quality transfers of the ROTJ trailers (at least one of which hasn’t been released on DVD).

I have the DC set, but my ROTJ discs especially seem to be showing signs of rot, and I’m hesitant to buy yet another set from eBay, especially if someone has already made some nice preservations.

If somebody can give me some info I’d appreciate it.

Were you planning on doing a transfer anyway? I don't want you to do it just for me! :-)

I believe that EditDroid did an excellent transfer of all the trailers that had not been on DVD yet in their 4-disc Bonus Materials set.

That should include that one rare ROTJ trailer as well.

I just acquired the Dr. Gonzo DC supplemental disc, and the Rowman ROTJ supplemental disc- and they both contain the ROTJ trailers I mentioned above.

Should I still seek out the Editdroid bonus discs or are these just as good?

The EditDroid set has "from star wars to jedi" and other documentaries, so I say go for it.

The Rowman disc also has 'from SW to jedi".........?

This isn't the same disc, is it?

Nope.  The EditDroid docs come from Japanese laser discs, and AFAIK have burned in subs.  I think the ones on the Rowman discs are sourced from VHS.  I know there is a bit of confusion because Rowman designed his menus to complement the EditDroid OT release, but that was before the official EditDroid bonus discs became known.

Yeah, it is kind of confusing- very confusing, actually. LOL!

Thanks! :-)

I've noticed that the Dr. Gonzo trailers are of better quality than the Rowman disc's- better color, less compression artifacts.

How do they fare on the Editdroid extras discs?

I don't have the Gonzo or Rowman discs to compare with, but EditDroid always seemed to make sure to have the best quality video on everything they put out.  Most of the transferred material they did themselves, and did it very well.  I would expect their version to look the best, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I would also like a complete editdroid set and bonus discs.

I tried downloading them but they are not being seeded.

I mainly need the empire strikes back trailer not on the 2004 dvd release in good quality, the one with the temp track from Vivaldis four seasons "winter".  It was the second teaser trailer released in 1979 and released as both a scope and flat print.

What i have is the trailer off of t'bones supposedly done by the editdroid team.  Is the trailer on the dvd better quality or the same?
