A new quote for Lucas...

Author
Time
I was sort of skimming this book "Brave New World" and in the foreward, I found this quote that is so aplicable to this site and the SE vs the OT... I immediately thought to put it here:

Quote

"To pore over the literary shortcomings of twenty years ago, to attempt to patch a faulty work into the perfection it missed in its first excecution, to spend one's middle age in trying to mend the artistic sins commited and bequeathed by that different person who was oneself in youth--all this is surely vain and futile...

"It's defects as a work of art are considerable; but in order to correct them, [one] would have to rewrite the [story]--and in the process...as an older, other person...probably get rid not only of some faults of the story, but also of merits such as it original possessed."

-Aldous Huxley

Hm. Perhaps Lucas should have read this quote before he startaed work on the twentieth aniversary re-release of *his* masterpiece.

completely relevent, you hit the nail right on the head.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

I'd heard this quote paraphrased before but never knew the full text or the author. Thanks for posting it.

It would actually be more like the 30TH Aniversary, wouldn't it?
Don't forget: with Lacuna, you can forget.

I believe he's refering to the '97 SE release, the first time Lucas went back and started making his changes to fit his 'original' vision
Why Anakin really turned to the dark side:
"Anakin, You're father I am" - Yoda
"No. No. That's not true! That's impossible!" - Anakin

I read this book recently and thought the EXACT same thing. The difference being that I didn't bother to post it

“Back when we made Star Wars, we just couldn’t make Palpatine as evil as we intended. Now, thanks to the miracles of technology, it is finally possible. Finally, I’ve created the movies that I originally imagined.” -George Lucas on the 2007 Extra Extra Special HD-DVD Edition

A good move would be to call up George Lucas to host some award cerimony, and add some quotes to the telepronpter, such as his own quote from originaltrilogy default page, or this one. And when he realizes what is going on he would stop, embarassed and angered, and would walk away, while people boo. There would be a minor media frenzy, and thanks to that, he would be forced to release the O-OT.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

That's a good quote. Too bad George Lucas never heard it.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

If only we had the means of pulling that off.
I'm not a member of the starwars.com forum and I don't plan on being one, but if anybody is, please post that quote.

That idea is beyond brilliant, Ric. I just wish someone here had a way to make it happen!

AND the explanation of where I found it...

IE, someone named TheWookiee copied and pasted my post!

Yeah they locked the thread, and the quote is only allowed to be posted in O.O.T section, in case it starts an O.T v SE debate and causes trouble.....

ADAM!

That little bugger is still scanning these boards and stealing my friggin' quotes!

WTF!?! It's not so much that I mind him posting it there--in fact, I'm glad someone did--but rather the principle of the thing. He's banned from this site, and yet he still scans these boards, and then claims the HE found it while reading the "Best Book Ever"...

Pft. I spit on his account!

Back on topic, Well, it's there, on the SW website. Now it's too bad we can't inact Ric's brilliant Teleprompter idea.
