A new movie to discuss: The Chrionicles of Riddick

I just saw TCoR Friday and man it was freakin' awesome. It and Return of the King are the only movies I've sat through in a theater the whole time.

Not to say that it's on par with Return of the King--just that it held my interest better than "better" movies. *coughkillbillcough*

I have yet to see this movie. Just bought Pitch Black and have a free ticket so you can bet I will see it soon.

Saw it. Dissipointed. I am a fan of Pitch Black this movie is very very different. Its probably as different as a sequal can get. Different can be good but here it just falls flat. Its confusing and sometimes boring. Riddick just isn't as cool anymore. So few creatures. Crappy villians. A disjoited story. I will pass this up on DVD and stick to the old Pitch Black.

Yeah. If your going expecting something like Pitch Black you probably will be dissapointed. It is nothing like Pitch Black. Forget that it is the same guy from pitch Black.

That is why it isn't called Pitch Black 2.

Riddick was a cooler character as an R rated flick.

"Did not know who he was fucking with"

Hmm.. he is less cool because he cusses less?

Sometimes, Jimbo...

Riddick still was cool. Unfortunitly none of the new characters were.

Yeah. The Necromongers were kind of--weird--and not a cool weird, an OH CRAP that's stupid weird.
But Marshall has a wicked power.

Yeah The Chronicles of Riddick is a painful experiance because it had potencial to be so much better.

Personally haven't seen it yet...

Did they film parts 2 and 3 at the same time, since this is supposed to be a trilogy?
Which is the more foolish, the fool (the OT) or the fool who follows (the PT)?

"Stay back, or Mr...Fett gets it!"

If by "painful" you mean "sweet" then yes it is. Seriously--why complain about what a movie is not--just enjoy it for what it is.

Unless it sucks.

Theres little to enjoy. Riddick curses less. Its not scary. Action is poorly done. Story is weird and confusing.

it must really be bad if it comes from the one one that says AOTC is his favorite movie

Either that or really good. Remember this opinion is coming from a guy who hated HP3. Did this one not spell everything out for you either, jimbo?

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Actually I liked Harry Potter 3. I just think it could have been better if it was longer and kept more stuff from the book. Personally The Chronicles of Riddick was confusing. Pitch Black was easy to understand.

I didn't find Riddick confusing... Actually it's almost painfully straight forward. It's the kind of movie where you turn your brain off for a while.

In fact, the plot is less complex than that of the Phantom Menace, but the movie itself is about on par with AotC.

(And not the masterpiece Jimbo thinks AotC is, either.)

I liked TCoR, especially its dark sense of humour. There is so much of Riddick (and his attitude) permeating the film that it's hard not to like it. I especially enjoyed the whole bounty-hunter subplot. That was a lot of fun.
