A kindred spirit from 1995

I stumbled across this old document from 1995

https://www.cedmagic.com/featured/star-wars-lost-footage.html

It’s mostly concerned with documenting the differences between the mono & stereo audio versions of SW77, and providing a transcript of the contents of the deleted Biggs scenes (which basically no one had ever seen at the time). There are even some great bits of people having false memories towards the end of the document, much like the classic “my memory isn’t that bad, is it?” thread. The grappling hook legend is even mentioned on a different page!

It’s also a good example of what the Internet and fan culture were like back then. Concerned with many of the same things, but publishing in a very different format.

I love trawling through these kind of old archives from the Star Wars fandom of yesteryear - thanks timdiggerm 👍

I wonder what happened to the site admin that site hasn’t been updated in ages. Also, they suspended and apparently deleted the forums that used to be there unless they are archived somewhere.

I never got too heavy into CED i have the Star Wars trilogy and was looking at getting some other ones but players are expensive. And it’s about equal to VHS quality so it’s not worth the money sink.

I did want to get the Hobbit Rankin Bass to see which version it was.

I’m curious where these rumors come from. Despite them being proven untrue, people still insist they remember stuff like luke missing the grappling hook

Some false memories can be from a trading card or the novelization or comic book.

But anyone saying he threw the hook twice, Jabba was in the movie or Luke did two runs on the exhaust port, i shake my head.
