I grabbed the 1.0 version off spleen a while back and watched it. I also wanted to congratulate you all on your 1st pass release. Very beautiful work. I’m assuming the color corrections and other details are going to be the next phase…do you have some sort of worklist with projected finish dates? If so, could you share them?

Sanjuro made a nice color corrected version (https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Star-Wars-4K77-Regraded-No-DNR/id/64740) which should be up on the Spleen in a week or two, and I already made a cleaned up, somewhat color corrected, bluray version that’s been up on the Spleen for a while now.

Skydude is working on an improved DNR version, and DrDre is still working on his color corrected version, but I’m all done with 4K77 and 4K83.

I’m not working on 4K80 - or at least not yet, but Dreamaster is, along with a couple of other people. That will probably take at least another year or two though.

The DNR version of 4k77 reminded me of the earliest Orange Bricks of Dragon Ball Z in some ways: much of the grain was wiped out, but a lot of the dirt and scratches and stuff are still visible.

I don’t know how feasible it will be to remove that stuff in updates of the Non-DNR version (which also kept the dirt and scratches, but are less conspicuous on account of the grain), but I’m curious if the Skydude DNR version will fix this issue.

Danfun, do you also love the soup and the bread, or just the bunny?

Use of the bunny outside off topic is getting out of hand.
When outside off topic, use a link to the bunny if you really feel the need to invoke it.
Warnings will be next if some restraint is not shown.

How on earth do I download this? Would really love to watch the 4K77 DNR Version as wwll as the 4K83. Couldn’t really figure out Usenet!

I noticed a site was looking for donations with help to do 4K80, was that legit as would like to make a contribution

4K77 4K No-DNR and 1080p No-DNR and 1080p DNR. For 4K83 there is the 4K Version that is all on 1337x, I had to get 4K83 1080p on MEGA

Anybody tried 4k77 1.4?

It still feels a bit too dark for me in some places. But maybe the switching between the versions just plays with my head a bit…

Ahh I see, it’s a really good restoration though, I watch it all the time lol

Hi,

Is it possible to use something like tsmuxer to split the mkv onto 2 BDMV folders to burn onto a BD50 and a BD25, and then play back on a Panasonic UHD player? My PC isn’t powerful enough to play 4K77 and I don’t have a BDXL burner.

If possible, what would be a good timecode for the split point, for both 4K77 and 4K83?

Just put it on a flash drive and plug it into your player. I’d be stunned if it couldn’t play the MKV (though you might have to remux with only one audio track and/or a non-DTS-HD MA track). Plus you won’t waste discs on something that might not work and you won’t have to deal with switching discs in the middle.

Oh yeah, duh me. Thanks, I should’ve thought of that, but I just bought this player and haven’t used mkv files on BD players much until now since they’ve been pretty finicky.

Anybody know where can get the 4k83 1080p dnr and non dnr one from? I already have the 4k77 ones, thanks.

Well, 4K77 does indeed play off of a USB stick, but for some reason it’s really choppy like it’s playing at 6 fps. I made sure to re-mux with just one audio track. Did the same with 4K83, and that seemed to play fine. Only having problems with 4K77…

Interesting. Which version do you have? 4K or 1080p? DNR or No-DNR (and if it’s the latter, No-DNR 1.0, 1.4, or one of the in-between releases)?

Thanks for the response, it’s 4K77 UHD v1.0. I also have the 1080p Grindhouse version, but was kinda hoping to make use of the 4K monitor I bought the other day.
Looking at the bitrates, it seems 4K77 is considerably higher than 4K83, so I wonder if the Panasonic player can’t handle bitrates that high over USB (although the USB stick is USB 3).
I also have an XBone S, I’ll try playing it on that later this week, although some posts on Reddit seem to indicate that the audio has to be Dolby Digital.

I’ve never heard of an Xbone before. 😜

I can answer almost all questions anyone might have about the Sith from Star Wars Legends, and please do PM me for the bd25 DEED(Despecalised Editions), as I have this version, though I can’t answer technical questions about them. Auntie Derry/Rumpelstiltskin.

Bitrate seems likely. I seem to remember that the first no-DNR UHD encode had that issue due to the way it was encoded, which was compensated for with all future UHD releases.

Does anyone here own the Nvidia Shield to play these 4K files?
I’ve been thinking of getting one.

Argh. I’m trying to burn the original 1080p noDNR 4K77 to disc and I’ve made two coasters already. It’s my first time using dual layer BD-r but I don’t think that’s the issue. I muxed a Blu-ray iso with all the little intro clips and rating cards and whatnot but I think something went wrong or wasn’t compatible. Anyway, I’m currently muxing a new iso with just the film itself. Fingers crossed this works. At $3 a pop I don’t really want any more failures…

You’re probably better off just getting the official 4K77 Blu-Ray ISO and burning that, no?

JEDIT: Oh, No-DNR. My bad.

Well, that’ll be my next option I suppose. Disc 3 (just the film itself with no fluff this time) is in process as we speak. Fingers crossed!

JEDIT:
Hooray! Dunno what was causing problems with the intro videos, and while it would’ve been cool to have those, I’m just glad I don’t have a third coaster. Looks like I’ll just keep it simple in the future when muxing iso files.
