Somebody should do one of these posts on Reddit:

<----- Number of people that want the original theatrical version of star wars released on blu-ray

If that hit the front page of reddit it would mean quite a bit I think. The OT crowd would definitely have to get the ball rolling. I’m assuming everybody has reddit accounts?

What’s reddit?

You don’t wanna know

4chan lite.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

r/StarWarsLeaks is pretty pro-OUT (they clamor for any content at all), but a post like that over there would (rightly) be shouted down for not being news.

Some info on when people have searched for ‘Star Wars unaltered trilogy’.
In short, there were small spikes in 2006 and 2011, then people cared a whole lot right when TFA came out, then cared a bit less when Rogue One came out.

So I’d say it’s obviously a good idea to create a stir when it coincides with a major movie release or a blu-ray/4K release of the OT.

Rian Johnson is not a fan of the SE if this tweet from January of 2011 is any indication:

https://twitter.com/rianjohnson/status/23164864209887232

Granted, this was still more than three years before he was hired for Episode VIII, but I’m sure his feelings on the matter haven’t changed.

People were still replying to this more than four years later in August of 2015. It might be worth replying to it and/or liking it and/or retweeting it on the 25th.

I mean, he never deleted it so…

I think we should get some Star Wars YouTubers (e.g. HelloGreedo, Star Wars Explained) on board - maybe get them to tweet a link to the letter.

Reddit is very pro-SE and pro-prequel. You will not get the response you’re hoping for.

Well since Lucasfilm won’t do it, people are filling in.

Great, I like it. But here might be something you could do.

First, Keep it in the small form, but can we also address and send a copy to Fox. And state “Properly Restored” versions of the films.

Second, based on what everyone is saying, have a link to the home page of this site and encourage them to click on it.

Third, Add to the homepage a longer letter stating the importance of the Original Cut to the history of cinema and their the reason the films got awards in the first place. Including the links to the comparison galleries stating that the Special Edition/ Recent cuts are not the same film.

Forth, in the longer letter on home page, include ideas for different sets they could release (any retail, not special store sets). Include a sentence saying the Original cuts of the Prequels will be nice as well.

Fifth, Include a thank you from this site and it’s members. Also including a thank you from the Star Wars fans and communities.

Thank you, hopefully we will get our wishes.

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

I’m thinking the proliferation of bootlegs might work out if Lucasfilm sees them cutting into potential profits. It was the laserdisc-scan bootlegs that got us the GOUT after all.

I’m a little worried to attract any interest from Disney to our site. It’s a double-edged sword for sure…

Odds are somebody at the Mouse House knows about us. One of many reasons for the rules we have regarding projects around here.

Are they selling the Despecialized Edition?
Or are they selling second hand recordable DVDs/Blurays
that just happened to contain The Despecialized Edition?

Is that loophole really a thing? Either way they are shit burglars for profiting off of harmy.

What, you think they fell down holding a stack of blank discs and they accidentally got a bunch of Harmy’s work all over them?

What are you even talking about?

Dear Disney and Lucasfilm,

Today being the 40th anniversary of Star Wars, we just wanted to ask:

How and when will you release the original Star Wars trilogy in their original theatrical versions?

We would buy the heck out of those if only we could.

Yes or no?

Please don’t leave us hanging.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
The staff and members of Originaltrilogy.com

I did a quick edit based on “how” and “when” because we know “what” and we don’t want to know about “if” and “who” is them.

“Where” is obviously they have it.

But I like all the short versions

This is what I am saying.
If I want a copy of The Despecialized Edition I can’t buy it.
I have to download it my self and burn it to disk my self.
But if I am not smart and or have bad internet I have to find
some one to do it for me. Now disks, labels box’s and shipping,
all cost money. And I would want to reimburse the person who put
together a set and mailed it to me. Also putting it all together takes time.
Time is money so reimbursing the person for there time seems reasonable.
So would I be buying the The Despecialized Edition? Or Would I be buying blank disks, labels box’s and shipping, and paying off a favor?

I know tape traders, (for lack of a modern digital term) have operated that way, but I doubt a vendor at a convention is charging just for parts, labor, and blank media.
