I hope fans at Celebration treat Hayden with respect. He’s really not a bad actor or guy, and he’s a fellow Star Wars fan when we get down to it.

But he’s an important part of the Star Wars legacy now whether you like it or not, and I hope no one tries to take that away from him or anyone else who’s grown up with or are fans of him.

Him being here or in TLJ won’t affect the original movies, our preservations, a possible 4K restoration, or whatever your personal perspective on Star Wars is.

He’s going to get a terrific reception at Celebration.

In my experience (two Celebrations) the audience is very much pro-prequel.

No wonder I haven’t gone…

I get that we’re on a forum called OriginalTrilogy, but we can favor the OT without bearing more of that toxic ill will or disrespect towards anyone else who thinks differently. If we want to put it in perspective, “pro-prequels” are more likely to be younger, and at a point you’re really just shit-talking kids. Way to go, champs.

Sorry you feel that way, but your loss.

Thank you for this. I understand the hate, but it’s still Star Wars.

This.

It’s the old saying - I think the Special Editions are beyond awful but I’d defend your right to say the opposite.

Star Wars Celebrations are fantastic - I’ve been to the last two. There’s something there for all ages, genders, generations, etc, and there’s such a happy atmosphere.

Kids who grew up seeing the prequels in theaters when they were like 8 or 9 are in their mid-20s now.

What, a man builds a giant mound of dirt in his house and you aren’t entertained?

I don’t look at them as “kids.” I look at “pro-prequels” as “conservative Republicans.” Don’t feel the need to associate with them either. Something to do with intelligence level. 😃

I really don’t agree with the notion that intelligence has anything to do with the right to appreciate Star Wars in whatever way you like.

And maybe the “kids” thing doesn’t matter. (kids do fall under the “SW fans post-SE” umbrella tho)
How about just a general respect for others? You don’t have to associate with people you disagree with, but jesus, once you start to think you’re superior in any way, how do you not see how that’s toxic?

Yup! I accept those that accept others. So…maybe the Republican comparison isn’t the most accurate in the world because I can have a conversation with a prequel-lover. But…it’s similar.

Not to mention the Rebel base temple in Rogue 1 is based off the SE temple not the original.

Aside from the initial view of the hangar entrance, did they really change the temple in the SE? I thought what we saw in R1 were areas of the base that were “off camera” in the original film.

With Hayden being on the 40th Anniversary panel, we can kiss goodbye any chance that they will be announcing the unaltered versions being released. There is no way on earth they would have him there only to announce that they are going to give us the originals which would remove him appearing in the film and a scene that was hated by many since the change. If they do end up announcing them, just how awkward would that be? 😉

Is the whole celebration schedule up yet? What panel has a video release usually been announced at in the past?

I highly doubt that if they announce it that they would boast all the individual reversions on stage. And they wouldn’t be removing him from the movie anyway. If it’s released, the OUT will be presented as bonus material or an alternate cut. And it’s not like Hayden actually performed in ROTJ. More like George abused his likeness. Didn’t he just swap the heads?

Yeah it was a headswap from a ROTS outtake.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

Some wily dealer at Celebration should have a cutout of Sebastian Shaw’s body minus the head, so fans can create their own personal SE shot. 😉

People should be respectful to Hayden or any other actor who never did anything wrong to them. Otherwise you’re just a nutcase. The beef is with George, not Hayden.

That said, there is nothing wrong with mocking prequel lovers and belittling their bad taste. Kids these days don’t watch those movies. It’s teens and 20somethings that watched them when they were kids and lack the temperament to grow out of childish things that were never any good in the first place.

Thanks for this. I’m so glad that I get to read political junk in a Star Wars thread.

It’s hard to imagine. I definitely get why a lot of people on TFN dislike this place though, especially if they come here and see stuff like this.

Making fun of the prequels is one thing, I do it all the time. But knocking people for their taste in films is definitely taking it too far.

Giving us an alternate way to watch Star Wars (giving us the OOT) wouldn’t be removing Hayden if they make both versions available. Which is what I would assume that they would do if they do such a release.

That Republican comparison is beyond childish. It’s also childish to assume Hayden Christensen has a huge ego because “he stared in films I didn’t like” or because of “that special edition edit”. It’s like the people who defended GhostBusters 2016 are in the chat. “They didn’t like it, well, they’re ignorant Republicans.”

I watched the prequels when I was young, and I hated Episodes I and II. I enjoyed III because Ian McDiarmid was great in that film.
