4K restoration on Star Wars — Page 160

It looks to me like it will be a retrospective panel about the films and the CG shows. Hayden’s a natural fit for that. That doesn’t mean that they won’t say anything about the OUT, though.

Also, if Hayden’s in TLJ I’m going to be pissed. They should do everything they can not to canonize a specific version of the film. That way either version has legs beyond a curiosity.

My money is on a hologram, or a vision, not a Force ghost. Let’s not piss off until there’s something concrete to be pissed about?

Where were you in '77?

I have to wait for concrete? That sounds hard!

Author

That cements it then. The Wook has spoken. Everyone just wait a couple more weeks.

Poor Mark Hamill. Not only does he not get to be up there with Carrie, he has to be up there with Filoni- who looks like he smells like BO and cheap beer.

The separation master talk made me feel good. If it can deliver a good 4K scan at a decent cost- then we might get the OOT after all.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

If anything, if Hayden is in the film and gives us a good performance, that would redeem him in the Star Wars universe. People will see him as that excellent role in The Last Jedi and not annoying Anakin from the prequels.

It legitimizes the Special Editions and every other terrible ass change Lucas did.

That’s not very nice.

That’s like, your opinion man.

I’m fine with them sticking to the SE as the main canon versions of the OT as long as they give us the OOT

As far as I’m concerned, the only reason why we wouldn’t get the OOT now is because the current Blu rays and digital versions of the films sell enough for the studios not to care. I don’t think George has this control in some kind of contract or anything

The fact that the Special Editions have been commercially available since 1997 legitimized it, whatever that even means.

Not to mention the Rebel base temple in Rogue 1 is based off the SE temple not the original.

Really, Hayden is not bad. He delieved the best he could considering the lack of direction of Lucas on Episode II. On Episode III with the coach director to help he gave a very strong performance (and he looks badass). The blame is on Lucas, not on him.

He does not look badass at all. He looks like a whiny jerk. And I do not think it is because of lack of Lucas’ direction, but because Lucas wrote/directed him to be like a whiny jerk.

I was talking about the performance, not about the character we was supposed to play according to the script.

If the current blu-rays / digital versions are still selling well enough for them not to care, sure. But if it isn’t, and they think an OOT release will make them some money, they’ll do it.

To me, this is forgivable because it’s not a drastic redesign. They added some texture to the rock face above the hangar door, where on the original it was totally smooth. But the shape of the temple itself is still the same. To me this is equivalent to the differences in Darth Vader’s suit between each film. I.e. - minor cosmetic changes (that many people never even notice), but still generally the same thing.

But if they somehow showed or referenced something dramatically different like Hayden force ghost, sarlacc beak, or Greedo shooting in the one of new movies it would totally pull me out of the film and have the potential to destroy the continuity for me (as someone who only watches and “accepts”, for lack of a better term, the OOT and completely discounts the SE and anything that only exists in those versions.)

I hope fans at Celebration treat Hayden with respect. He’s really not a bad actor or guy, and he’s a fellow Star Wars fan when we get down to it.

But he’s an important part of the Star Wars legacy now whether you like it or not, and I hope no one tries to take that away from him or anyone else who’s grown up with or are fans of him.

Him being here or in TLJ won’t affect the original movies, our preservations, a possible 4K restoration, or whatever your personal perspective on Star Wars is.

He’s going to get a terrific reception at Celebration.

In my experience (two Celebrations) the audience is very much pro-prequel.
