“Was it shot digitally? No? It was shot on film? Oh, well then it’s not HD anyway.”

I mean, I guess that’s technically true. HD is a digital standard, not a film one. It is an ignorant statement, however.

Exactly, some people fail to make that very simple connection.

Don’t even get me started on the TFN founder’s statements on that Attack of the Show segment when the GOUT was released.

A LOOOOOOOOTT more than the BDs in some cases.

…why?

That’s nothing compared to those who think the Diamond Edition Disney tapes are worth something: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Beauty-and-the-Beast-VHS-1992-Walt-Disneys-Black-Diamond-Classic-/182452425052?hash=item2a7b03115c:g:yUEAAOSwTuJYn95x

Holy Crap! Some people will pay any price.

Is their line of thinking “Well, I don’t want to undersell this thing” and that’s why they start at such an absurdly high price?

That one is, but the related products that are “only” a couple thousand… it’s hard to tell if they’re jokes or serious.

I bet they were counting on people looking at it and then clicking their other items and maybe buying something. Any publicity…

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

That was just the most expensive. They tend to hover around $20k.

I think I have that VHS, and I’m pretty sure it’s in good condition; can I be a millionare now?

I have that edition. Funny enough me and the family were watching it a few months ago. My mothers new hubby wanted to watch Beauty and the Beast for some reason but we only had the VHS. Aside from some tracking issues at the start until about the end of the opening credits the tape still played rather well. Definitely the first time it was played since the '90s.

In that case, I’ll take five!

It’s mostly ebay madness and pure greed.
http://www.snopes.com/black-diamond-collection-disney/
I bought a DVD for 20 bucks last year from someone that had a listing for a B&TB VHS asking 10k. Good for a laugh.
Mind you, the last few Laserdisc titles to come out here and in Japan around 2000 command crazy ass prices too. I think I paid about $60 for the Japanese LD of Titan A.E. at the time, and sellers on the LDDB are asking 4K for it now.

This article is comical. What does it even mean that the effects won’t hold up in HD? Does the author realize that for its first few years, Star Wars was only available in better-than-HD quality? (I.e. Film)

https://www.theguardian.com/film/filmblog/2017/feb/28/george-lucas-special-edition-star-wars-disney-may-release-unadulterated-version

So like, every movie that hasn’t been digitally touched up looks like garbage, according to them. The Guardian just keeps on shit posting, huh.

That’s actually really cool. Not the price, but the packaging. Never seen that before. Didn’t know the late 80s VHS tapes were available in a bundle.

That’s nothing. The Blade Runner set has like 6 versions of the movie.

Five versions of Blade Runner have been publicly released on DVD, HD DVD and Blu-Ray

The US Theatrical Cut
The International Theatrical Cut
The Directors Cut
The Final Cut
The Work Print

Plus Version 6 - the deleted scenes that are so extensive they form an entire alternate cut of the film when put back-to-back.

THAT version hasn’t been officially released though. That’s the Comic-Con version, right?

Go to Amazon and search Return of The Jedi. This is what I saw…

As noted in another thread, the 2:14 time stamp also matches the theatrical version. URL posted in other thread also says theatrical version in it. Not just a new title, new URL entirely.

I was wrong, actually. I apologize for that. The SE is infact 2 hours and 14. I double checked.
My excitement got me a little carried away.

So who do we complain to about this heinous revisionism?

Jedit: It’s also false advertising, no?

It’s false advertising, but it’s very obviously a mistake.

I suppose. But like I said, I think this was a mistake made by an algorithm. Amazon doesn’t “troll” its customers.

How munch advance notice would a retailer typically get for a release such as this?
