Hi everyone, just an update, gweedo16 and I have been talking. He’s been pretty busy with real life, but we’re discussing how to move forward.

The initial release exists and has been sent out to donors (if this is not the case, PM me); however, we are considering further releases (different resolutions, some cleaned up, etc). Details to come in this space.

If you’ve sent either of us a PM on how to donate, hang tight and we’ll get back to you in a few weeks when we have a more solid game plan.

Seems I’m a bit late on this, but are you guys still accepting donations? Would love to have a look at the initial release.

Just an update: I touched base with gweedo16 and a new encode is being developed. For participators and the newly interested, expect a post Christmas PM with an update.

These encodes take time and this is the timeline.

Hello. I’ve just found this thread after doing a google search for “eyes wide shut” “35mm” “scan”, so I only wanted to add my (newbie, rando) voice and say I’d love to see this scan become accessible.

Eyes Wide Shut was available in open matte HD on MoviesAnywhere up until late last year. It was my preferred way of viewing the film, but then they sadly changed their copy to widescreen to match every other streamer’s copy. This sounds like a fantastic upgrade from that, so I hope it can be released someday soon. Thank you.

It’s still viewable on Paramount+. Not much of an upgrade over DVD in terms of detail, but the colors seem a little better.

Oh that’s cool thank you. It’s good to know an open matte copy is still sometimes popping up on commercial streamers. I wonder if I want to subscribe for a month just to watch it again…

I do already have the open matte on DVD and a 544p mkv. But an HD copy that can’t suddenly vanish or a scan will be optimal. (or a Criterion UHD is the dream, but them including an open matte on a hypothetical release feels like way beyond a long shot.)

This print is 1.85 unfortunately. I too love the open matte version and hope somebody out there will miraculously appear with an open matte HD+ scan. But I think this 1.85 scan will be great nevertheless.

aww man I did miss that detail on the thread’s first page. Sorry about that and thank you for clarifying. I still hope the scan makes it out to a larger audience someday. Regardless, it could be a nice improvement on the blu-ray and digital HD copies.

@NomeIndecisco and @ifjg thanks both for your interest. I’ll send you a PM after Christmas with info about the new encode if you want to support the scan.

I know I am late to the party, life gets in the way. Where and how may I donate to the project?

Can you tell me how many film cans the movie has? I read on imdb it has 9. If so, are they 1000ft or 2000ft rolls? I’m very interested in this details. Thank you!

I would also love to contribute to this project!

The holidays slowed me down, folks! I’m sorry.

Color is looking good (finally!- honestly was a bit of a struggle). But a few more things to do - audio, etc.

@CloakedDragon97 - I see your post, stay tuned in PMs.
