I did, thought it was much better than the original, much like the creator I was annoyed with the "meanwhile back in sparta" scenes. The movie is much more enjoyable (imo) with them cut. The nin addition seemed to fit nicely, all in all a much better movie.

It is the right year and does remove the Sparta subplot, though it doesn’t mention anything about NIN.
