George Lucas interview - 29th October 1979 — Page 3

If I remember right, the 1999 star wars issue of Vanity Fair had Lucas proclaiming the always and only six theme.

Oooh I have that, if someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll transcribe the relevant portion later on when I get home.

" in a tangible way I can't refute."

ROTFLMFAO....YOU REFUTE EVERYTHING!

Do you really think people don't notice? Your own .sig. gives away your motives, as well as the inevitable result of your responses. You are such a fucking joke.

"I didn't nay say the scripts, I merely said that all it proves is that Lucas didn't write down "Episode IV A New Hope" on any of them until 1979. It doesn't prove Lucas hadn't thought of that before that point in time."

A lack of evidence BEYOND THAT ALREADY GIVEN doesn't help your stance at all, except in your own mind. This is not a fucking court of law, moron. Until YOU can prove Lucas thought about it but never wrote it down (what a fucking joke), then this is just yet another worthless Hail Mary attempt on your part to deny what is factual and in print.

Again, you lose.

"So what if i give Lucas the benefit of the doubt? I just personally don't feel right in accusing someone of something based soley on the cynical assumptions of his detractors."

Again, for those who want to defend Go-mer, his opinion of folks here is once again made clear as day.

He's not here to discuss Star Wars, folks. He's here to parody you guys and derail threads.

And with that, I'm off to Disneyland. As to coming back to these boards, don't hold your beaths. As much as I love OT.COM. I'm tired of defending these boards against ilk of this nature.

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
<span class=“Bold”>JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
<span class=“Bold”>Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.</span></span>

<span class=“Italics”>JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.</span>

The idea that Lucas needs proof that he thought of this before he wrote it on the scripts is ridiculous.

You are the one contesting his claim with no evidence to support it beyond the -lack- of evidence for it.

His claim is supported by both his first hand testimony, and the fact that by 1979 it was written on the scripts. Logic dictates he has to think about something before he can write it down somehwere.

Bringing up the scripts isn't proving Lucas wrong.

Please don't leave, MeBe. I was so excited to see you posting again after not seeing you for a while.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I thought the argument here was whether or not Lucas had 9 or 6 movies planned. We've shown you the quotes in favor of 9 movies. You yourself believe in the 6 movie theory, so obviously you have something to back that up with. Why do we need to show you proof that he only had 6 when you're the one trying to convince us of that?

I was just asking for proof that Lucas didn't think of the subtitle Episode IV A New Hope before releasing it to the theaters originally.

As for how many movies Lucas "always planned", I am contesting the idea that he was actually talking about how many movie he was talking about doing, and instead suggest that he is talking about how much "story" he originaly came up with.

I believe that when Lucas says that the idea he had anything planned beyond episode 6 was a "media myth", he is talking about the fact that he tied up the whole story he had in mind for 9 films within 6. Instead of having the resolution of Vader and Luke thwarting the Emperor in the 9th episode, he pushed that up to the 6th episode, therefore the story has come full circle, and Lucas hasn't come up with anything beyond that resolution for the story.

Go-Mer, you post five times per hour in every single thread in this forum. It is not up to US to find the second quote that we all KNOW you've seen. I've seen it, and I post a tenth as much as you. If you can't recall it, or can't recall which thread it's in (I can't, for example), don't expect us to do your leg-work for you.

The Lucas quotes exist, they've been posted here, and recently. You are straying very close to calling people liars, and that is unacceptable behavior ... even for you.

I am not even close to calling anyone a liar, I just thought there was going to be proof of some sort.

Some of you are accusing Lucas of lying, and I'd just like to see the justification for it.

I'm not saying anyone is lying about this quote existing, I'd just like to see it is all.

If you guys can't be bothered, then don't.

Go-Mer, you are all over this forum like a wet blanket. Find it yourself. I'm not surprised you'd get confused about where things are, as it's all seeming the same thanks to your all-pervasive posts. We might as well just have one single thread here now ... titled "Go-Mer Sucks George's Dick ... and be done with it.

But even I can recall seeing both quotes. Maybe if you stop posting every few seconds, you will have better recall of what's been posted in the last few days.

Perhaps. Like I said you don't have to find it if you don't want to.

The only quotes I can recall from recent memory, is one where Lucas says the studio didn't think audiences would understand the chapter name and episode number, and one where he says he ended up agreeing with that.
