Yes you can and I never said you couldn't, I just pointed out that a personal opinion isn't a "Stereotype".
not every personal opinion is, but some are. You agreed gay men being effeminte is a stereotype, thinking gay men are effeminate is also a personal opinion.

Warbler said: Here is Wikipedia's diffinition of steorotype:
A stereotype is a thought that may be adopted about specific types of individuals or certain ways of doing things.[1]These thoughts or beliefs may or may not accurately reflect reality
Well then Wikipedia is wrong, as is its wont.
if you say so.

The statement "may or may not accurately reflect reality" should be "does not accurately reflect reality", that is one of the things that defines a stereotype. It's a broad generalisation that distorts the truth and is therefore inherently false.
well unless you wish to say that gays being weird reflects reality, then it is a think which "does not accurately reflect reality" so therefore stereotype could apply.

Let me give an example of a stereotype and since I'm from the UK... a stereotype would be that "British food is terrible". The food in tourist traps in London is awful which I'm sure is where that misconception arrises. Infact the UK has more Michelin restaurants than the US despite the US being a vastly more populous country. But your statement would have been akin to "British food is terrible because it comes from Mars". The former is a stereotype the later is just some crazy nonsense (That you are free to believe if you want to).
somehow, British food coming from Mars does seem to compare well with gays being weirdos. I doubt have ever been many that thought British food came from mars. Yet, it was widely held that gays were weird. My point was that Johnny Weir feeds into that belief(it is not a belief I hold).
