Because they're FICTIONAL characters, they don't exist. Josiah Bartlet is the creation of a room full of writers and he is the main protagonist of a TV drama, he is written so that the audience relates to him and sympathizes with him. In the same way you don't have perfect selfless heroes of fairy tales in the real world, you don't have perfect politicians in the real world. I chose Princess Leia because it was the most over the top example I could think of.

While we are at it, Scrooge McDuck would be the coolest uncle ever. If I ever had to go to war, I hope I am under the command of Capt. Steve Rogers. The world could really use a guy like Sherlock Holmes. Nova from the planet of the apes would be the most amazing girlfriend I could imagine. And KITT would be really awesome to have as a car... oooh! Or a time traveling DeLorean!

Too bad none of those are real. 

your answer doesn't make sense, and I know they are fictional characters.    I asked you how you can conclude that Princess Leia would be 10 times the President that Josiah Bartlet would be, when you have never watched the West Wing.   Saying "Because they're FICTIONAL characters" is not a logical answer to that. 

Warb, Josiah Bartlet isn't real. Princess Leia isn't real.

I was making a joke about how silly the idea of wishing Josiah Bartlet was real is. Princess Leia was the most hyperbolic example I could think of at the time, but you seem to have taken my nomination serious since you asked for reason why (which is actually a really fun and intriguing idea, and why I made the thread). If I had said, "Mickey Mouse would make ten times the President Josiah Bartlet was", maybe my initial point would have been clearer.

almost forgot, I vote for Bartlet.  Leia is a good leader, but she doesn't have government experience.   Running a rebellion is not the same as running a government.

And twist, I never said you were wrong, I was just disappointed that you only know Martin Sheen from Catch Me if You Can.

Still can't figure out why Leia would be a Republican. Alderaan is a peaceful planet. 

I don't know the political views of any of these candidates so I will not be casting my vote.
